As sad as it still is that Horses For Hopes doors are closed, we’re comforted knowing that the spirit of the work continues.

Alison Dohnt, our long-time Lead Horse Practitioner, wasn’t content with leaving it all behind. She has opened the gate to a new venture Alison’s Equine Embrace.

Located in Katandra West, Alison’s Equine Embrace offers slightly different services.

🌟Equine- Assisted Learning: Horse yard session
🌟Equine- Assisted counselling: Expression of interest only
🌟Support worker services.

We’re so proud of Alison and her dedication to continuing this meaningful work. We wish her all the very best as she steps into this next chapter, supporting both humans and horses with the same care and commitment she brought to HFH.

After 21 years of service, Horses for Hope has now closed permanently.

This is a hard goodbye. Our hearts are heavy, but also full of deep gratitude.
To every participant, horse, supporter, and team member, thank you for walking this journey with us. Our work ends, but the impact lives on.

This page will remain open as a tribute to all we shared. We are no longer running programs or responding to messages, but we invite you to look back, remember, and celebrate what we built together.

We’re devastated to share that after 21 incredible years, Horses for Hope is set to be closing its therapeutic program on May 30, 2025

This decision has been incredibly hard. Despite the love, support, and tireless work of our team and community, we can no longer financially sustain the program in its current form.

To every single person who has shared in this journey — participants, families, supporters, donors, horse owners, volunteers, staff and friends — thank you. Your belief in us has made a lasting difference to thousands of lives, both human and horse.

While the program and charity will conclude, the legacy of Horses for Hope will live on through the lives it has touched. We remain committed to ensuring our horses are cared for as they move into the next chapter of their journeys.

Our Vision is to provide a unique healing environment for people and horses, accessible to all looking to reimagine their future and our purpose is to address the suffering in people and horses that have experienced trouble and distress.

We aim to: improve the lives of people and horses; Continually improve the quality of what we do through innovation, evaluation and review, and research; and to make practices for Horses for Hope and Equine assisted narrative therapy more available in our communities.

We offer Individual sessions, Group sessions, community programs, and corporate training programs. All service offerings are uniquely tailored.
