Part 5 - Re-birth
I gave birth on a Tuesday, got wheeled off on Wednesday & spent the next few days in the high dependency unit as my body fought hard. I knew I had to fight to see my baby boy again.
Saturday afternoon, once I had settled into the maternity ward of the second hospital, my boys checked out of the previous hospital and came to join me.
A reunion so sweet.
I had no strength, but I held on so tight. We were in hospital together for the next 7 days as we waited for my body to be stable again.
I know women generally experience re-birth when they go through birthing their babies. I experienced re-birth on a whole new level - I got a new lease on life itself.
Ever since then, even on the longest of nights, I can honestly say I have been the most present I have ever been.
I am so grateful to have a baby that's thriving. It currently pains me so much seeing what children & families around the world are going through
But here's what I've learned from all of this:
1. Be there. Be right where you are. Create magic in the mundane and allow yourself to feel everything. The grief, the sadness, the joy.
2. Be open to what the universe has coming for you. It all happens FOR you, not to you. Trust.
3. Spend time healing. This isn't a one time thing. It's like continually peeling an onion. And when you get to the core, you maintain it. Because it really does allow you to be the best mum, partner, friend, human you can be.
4. Be firm on your boundaries. Every phase of life comes with its own challenges. Hold your boundaries up to your values and communicate them.
5. From a medical perspective, do your research. Attend classes. Educate yourself. The more you know, the more you're able to question, the more empowered you feel. Remember, it's your body.
6. Trust your intuition always. If something doesn't feel right, it probably isn't. And if something does feel right, don't let others' opinions waver trusting yourself. We can be very quick to doubt ourselves.
If you've come this far on my story, thank you for reading. I hope it's given you hope and comfort knowing that you're not alone in your journey. My DM's are always open for a chat 💗
