If your session is impacted, we will contact you directly to organise an alternative time or telehealth option where possible.

Thank you for your understanding while we prioritise the safety of our families. Please stay safe and take care on the roads.

Important Update: Expanded Medicare Support for Speech Pathology (From 1 March 2026)

We are pleased to share some important news that will benefit many of the young people we support.

From 1 March 2026, the Australian Government is expanding Medicare funding for children and young people with severe speech and language disorders.

Under the new changes, eligible individuals under 25 years of age may access:

• Up to 8 assessment sessions
• Up to 20 treatment sessions

This is a substantial increase from the previous limit of five allied health sessions per year available under Chronic Disease Management plans.

This reform recognises what we see every day in practice — meaningful and lasting progress in communication takes time, consistency, and appropriate levels of therapeutic support.

Conditions expected to be covered include:

Severe speech sound disorders

Stuttering

Cleft lip and palate

Other significant speech and language disorders

If you believe your child may be eligible, or if you would like to discuss how this change may apply to your family, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We are very happy to guide you through the process.

Wondering if your child’s speech sounds are developing as expected?

Many children use speech sound patterns as they learn to talk. Some patterns are part of typical development, while others may persist and benefit from support.

At Nova Clinic Speech Pathology in Peregian Beach, families can learn more about our Speech Sound Clinic and enquire if they would like further information.

When families enquire, we share a simple, evidence-informed resource to support reflection on what they may be noticing in their child’s speech.

Our Speech Sound Clinic runs on Wednesdays, with limited appointments available, and includes a free in-clinic speech sound screening.

This is an information-first approach, designed to support decision-making without pressure to book.
