The second eye may be operated on anytime after the first eye, but not on the same day. 👁️

There are no set rules for the interval between eyes but one week is the most common interval.

Increasingly, surgery for the second eye is being performed on the day after the first eye. This decision will be made between you and Dr Oakley during your consultation process.

If you would like to seek a referral to Dr Oakley's care for cataract management please contact her via her website or via any of her places of practice (also detailed in the website). 🖥️

Regular exercise, a diet rich in leafy greens and antioxidants, and staying hydrated (but not too much at once) are great places to start.

Avoid smoking, and aim for good sleep and stress management to help reduce eye pressure.

Remember, these steps support but don’t replace treatment.

Dr Carmen Oakley can help you manage your treatment!✔️

Yes, cataract surgery is generally very effective at permanently improving vision. ✔️

During the surgery, the cloudy natural lens of the eye is removed and replaced with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL). This artificial lens is designed to be clear and lasts a lifetime, so it doesn’t develop cataracts. 👁️

After surgery, most people experience significantly improved vision and a reduction in glare and halos, making everyday activities easier. 👍

If your optometrist has indicated that you should consider cataract surgery to improve vision then you may wish to seek a referral to Dr Oakley's care as she has expertise in the diagnosis and surgical management of cataracts.
