I wrote this journal entry just before completing almost 6 of 7 weeks of treatment. Memories like these help to keep me focused on the direction I travel in life ✨️......

I noticed two gentlemen enter the centre, an elderly father and middle-aged aged son, both dressed immaculately. Tall, slim, and both carrying an energy of light and grace with them. You could tell they were kind people just by looking at them.

They sat side by side in the waiting room at the cancer treatment centre. It was their first time, so they were issued with the carry bag with samples, brochures, and the official 'treatment passport'.

The son quietly asked his father a couple of questions, and his father gently shook his head, indicating he was unsure. So, the son jumped up and approached reception to ask the question.

He returns to his father standing in front of him and, mentioned that he might have to duck out for a minute (to pay for parking) but if he went in for his treatment while he was outside that he would be there waiting when he had finished (only patients can go through to the treatment area).
The frail father nodded. And with that, the son held his father's head with both hands and tenderly kissed his forehead. He reassured him and said how proud he was of him and how much he loved him. He spoke positive words and then gave him what I can only assume was a well practiced special handshake consisting of a hi five followed by a flat palm-to-palm, thumb pointing upwards fingers pointed at each other, with the words 'always onwards, always upward'. On the word 'upward', their fingers pointed toward the ceiling. He then held his father's head with both hands once more and gave him another forehead kiss before floating out the door with a 'Love you, Dad'. 💜

Still makes me cry!

It took all I had to not burst into tears ( people being sweet to each other always hits me in the feels button 💓). I saw the father sit a little taller in his seat after that.

How could you remove the core of an apple without access to the centre?

In my experience, we come undone to shed the s**t. To understand our unique core (Atman).

That's the real privilege of holding your own space.

Meditation, yoga, breathing, movement - all beneficial stabilisers of life but if you want access to the core of what makes you tick, well that my friends is often a solo journey that most shy away from (for lots of reasons).

But mate, it's an experience you'll never forget. ✨

I had been holding on desperately most of my life, trying to get back to the top where the light was.

I became so very tired.

I decided that I was no longer afraid to fall and no longer had the strength to hold on.
So I let go.
And you know what happened? I landed in the dark.

It was quiet. Calm. Soothing. With a resounding command to lean in and listen like never before.
Here I would rest for some time in the peace of what I had been taught to fear.....darkness.

You see, darkness was the light I was trying to find. Not the noisy, vibrant in your face with a giant halo kinda light...the light behind your eyes where you can hear the sound of your breath.

Why do you think yogis close their eyes on the path of enlightenment? ...to access the dark light of peace, the contrast and equal to illuminate light.

Without the dark...there would simply be no light.
