School holidays make up 12 weeks, 3 months or a quarter of the year for us.

Can you afford to relax your eating plan over the school holidays for a quarter of the year?

Consistency matters and weight loss is a long game.

When our routines are disrupted such as school holidays, it’s easy to slip into less nutritious choices. In this week's podcast I share with you my tips for navigating the school holiday as a busy mum or dad, and particularly those who are juggling work as well.

Are snacks allowed when you are trying to lose weight?

Of course they are and I am often recommending people include more snacks.

👉WHY?
Because it improves your metabolism.

You can't though go out and have a block of chocolate or a slab of camembert every day for all your snacks though. We still need to be sensible and use these as opportunities to fuel your body and get the nutrients you need into your body.

Fundamentally, what I like to see from your snacks are a few things:

1️⃣ Snacks to come from the core food groups
2️⃣ Include a source of protein at all of your snacks
3️⃣ Make sure there is some fibre at your snacks

Treat your body with kindness. It’s the only place you have to live.

What's that internal dialogue saying to yourself?
Is that something you would say to your kids?
If not, why do you think it is ok to speak to yourself that way?

Step 1: Become aware of the words you are choosing, the tone you are saying it in, who is around you when you comment on your body. Little ears pick up everything.

Step 2: Decide if what you are saying to yourself about your body is something you are happy with or not.

Step 3: Work on accepting thoughts for thoughts. They are not beliefs. Let them pass on by.

Step 4: Choose the words you want to hear or say about your body and keep reminding yourself of them.

Whether you’ve tried 1 diet or 10 diets before, taking those first steps is the key to your health. A healthier, stronger, more energetic, lighter you.

It's not about doing it perfectly. It's not about being on or off a diet.
It's about showing up consistently.
A step forward is a step forward.

Strength based training isn't just about building muscles 💪

Here's just a few reasons why you should make it a part of your weekly routine.

1️⃣ Preserve Lean Muscle: As we age, lean muscle naturally diminishes. Strength training helps you maintain and enhance muscle mass, keeping you strong and resilient.

2️⃣ Strong Bones: Stressing your bones during strength exercises increases bone density and reduces the risk of osteoporosis.

3️⃣ Weight Loss: Strength training increases your metabolism, helping you burn more calories even at rest.

4️⃣ Joints: Protect your joints from injury by building muscle.

Your future self with thank you 🏋️‍♀️
