Breast reconstruction is not one-size-fits-all. Every woman’s body, goals, and cancer journey are different — and so is her reconstruction.

This patient of ours had a bilateral mastectomy when she was diagnosed with a left sided .

She had some tissue (though not much!) in her abdomen that could be harvested as to reconstruct both breasts.

Unexpectedly she required post-mastectomy radiation on the left side after reconstruction, but this early result post radiation shows her shape and reconstruction is doing very well. Especially in clothing we have been able to restore (or maintain) a sense of normality for her.

She will ultimately go on to have a tattoo based 3D ni**le reconstruction. Thank you to our patient for allowing us to share these wonderful results!

This patient of ours had a bilateral mastectomy for .

Dr Aggarwal performed a using a DIEP flap from her abdomen. This was transplanted to the chest.

The patient now has a permanent reconstruction that will grow with her, with a reconstruction that is soft much like a native breast.

This patient had which he was very self conscious about. One interesting thing to note is that his ni**le position was already low in the preoperative image, and the concern was that removal of his glandular tissue will mean his ni**le might droop even more after surgery.

Dr Aggarwal used a combination of liposuction, gland excision, and removal of a small amount of skin to produce this result which is shown 3 months after surgery. Even though there is a small horizontal scar near the ni**le it has healed very well and is already difficult to see.

We are glad the patient now has the confidence to take his shirt off when swimming or at the beach. We want to thank him for allowing us to share these results!

Grade 3 Gynaecomastia Correction🧍🏼‍♂️

This patient underwent surgical correction for severe gynaecomastia, which included skin removal and ni**le grafting to achieve a flatter, more contoured chest.

Due to a significant amount of loose skin and residual gland tissue on both sides, a longer chest scar was necessary to create the best aesthetic outcome. Our patient had been training regularly at the gym in an attempt to manage the appearance, but unfortunately, this wasn’t enough.

We’re grateful to him for allowing us to share his journey and progress. 🙌

Breast reconstruction surgery recreates the shape of the breast following a mastectomy or, occasionally, breast conserving surgery. It can be done at the same time as your surgery (immediate reconstruction) or as a separate procedure at a later time, even many years later (delayed reconstruction).

There are many different options available for reconstruction and much to consider so it can seem overwhelming. You may like to ask for a referral to a plastic surgeon to discuss what is best for you and connect with other women who have had a reconstruction. Ask as many questions as you need to in order to understand the recommendations being made for you.

Mode Plastic Surgery is the go to practice for reconstruction, cosmetic plastic surgery and non surgical procedures. MPS was founded by Dr Shagun Aggarwal, a Sydney plastic surgeon specialising in microsurgical reconstruction, aesthetic surgery, breast reconstruction, skin cancer and hand surgery.

Dr Aggarwal was fellowship trained in Microsurgery, in addition to Australian Plastic Surgery training, and is a member of the American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery.

Mode Plastic Surgery flagship centre is based in Gordon on Sydney's North Shore. Other locations include Hornsby, Camperdown, and we are opening up in Hunter’s Hill in April!
