This morning I made a batch of elderberry gummies using recipe ,and gelatin powder. I have a kid with a really sensitive gag reflex who has been known to vomit with liquid herbs (even glycetracts!) and supplements, so this is another way to get something medicinal in.

All the best to everyone sitting tomorrow’s Year 12 English exam (including my own!).
Good luck for the rest of the exam period too- you’ve got this! And even if feels like you don't got this whatsoever- it will all work out in the long run anyway- there's so many different pathways to get to where you want to go.

I know it’s boring advice, but… get a good night’s sleep, eat some protein for brekkie so your brain’s fuelled, and don’t forget your water bottle.

Hands up who loves op shopping?!

Mum and I go thrifting most weeks. During October, we've been working our way through the Knox City Council Knox Op Shop Trail.
Today I had a couple of bonza finds- these Frankie4 Ellie IV sneakers- ORP of $275, I picked up for $30 at the Aussie Veteran's Op Shop in Boronia.
I also found these Skin & Threads jeans which appear to be brand new without tags, ORP would have been approximately $250 or so and I scored these for $7, less a 20% discount thanks to the op shop trail. The legs are a bit long, but lucky for me mum is a very capable sewer (unlike myself!) so will take up the legs for me.
The trail finishes on the 31st- I think we'll hit up the Mountain Gate options next.
If you didn't know about it and you live in the Knox City Council area, there's still a few days to join in!

Are you an autistic adult that has seen a naturopath? My colleague is looking for participants for their research.

Following up from my post last week, as part of my PhD research, our research team is exploring the experiences of autistic adults consulting with naturopaths for Complementary Medicine support. I am in the process of recruiting both autistic adults and naturopaths to participate.

Research shows that up to 74% of autistic people report using some form of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) support. Upon review, the research has been focused on outcomes for autistic children. There remains a significant gap in the information available on CAM use by autistic adults and how safe and effective CAM supports may contribute to improved quality of life outcomes for autistic people. If you are autistic, aged over 18 and have consulted with a naturopath for CAM support, your participation in this study will provide an important contribution to an area of research in which further understanding is urgently required.

If you are a formally diagnosed autistic adult or self-identify as autistic, have consulted with a naturopath for CAM support as an adult and would like to participate you can start the questionnaire here or via the link in my bio:

It’s Invisible Disabilities Week (19–25 October)! 🌻

Around 80–85% of people with a disability have one that isn’t visible. These include neurological, cognitive, sensory, mental health, and chronic conditions that aren’t always immediately apparent.

Not all disabilities are visible — but a little understanding and kindness can go a long way in making everyone feel seen and supported.

I was just researching information on plastic free tea bags and came across this very well researched and informative blog on the topic from I'm Plastic Free.
It includes teas from all over, but does state the Australian ones.

While I try to drink loose leaf wherever possible, sometimes it's not practical because I'm at a conference or some such so will bring my own tea bags with me as I prefer not to be drinking microplastics.

Sharing for others who may be interested:

Your cup of tea might contain 11 billion nanoparticles of plastics. Find out which tea bags are plastic free (2025 update).

New blog post!

I'm often asked if I work with neurodivergent children and adults- the answer is a big, heartfelt yes.
As a neurodiversity-affirming naturopath, I provide gentle, practical support for kids and adults with autism, ADHD, and more.
Curious about my approach or what a session looks like?

I’m always learning- it’s one of the parts of my work I love most.

Over the years, I’ve completed a range of professional development training and courses that reflect where my curiosity and passion lie right now.

These topics shape how I support my clients and deepen my understanding of the connections between mind, body, and health.

Right now, I'm watching a webinar on 'Clinical Pearls for Constipation Beyond Guidelines' from The Rome Foundation. In a few weeks, the final unit in my Graduate Certificate in Child and Adolescent Mental Health starts, which I'm really looking forward to!

If you’d like to see what I’ve been exploring, I’ve shared a list here:
