🔍 Shoulder Pain? Neck Pain? doing a subscapularis release 💪 ✅ during your remedial massage session, Emma can teach you how to do a subscapularis release yourself for maintenance and ongoing pain management.

The subscapularis is one of the four rotator cuff muscles in your shoulder. 🏋️‍♂️ 🧘‍♀️

Pain due to subscapularis tightness or rotator cuff issues typically manifests as:

1. Anterior Shoulder Pain:
You may feel discomfort in the front of the shoulder, which can radiate down the upper arm.

2. Limited Range of Motion:
Difficulty with movements involving internal rotation or reaching behind your back.

3. Shoulder Weakness:
Weakness or difficulty lifting the arm or performing overhead activities.

4. Pain with Specific Movements:
Aggravated pain when performing actions like pushing, lifting, or rotating the arm.

In Chinese Medicine theory, warmth aids in the smooth functioning of the spleen and stomach, which are central to digestion and energy distribution. Cold foods and drinks are thought to hinder this process, leading to stagnation or a weakening of the digestive system (Stomach & Spleen In particular). Warm foods and drinks, on the other hand, are seen as nourishing and strengthening.

Key take aways:in cooler seasons eat and drink more warm foods and fluids unless you have significant signs of heat (a TCM practitioner can help identify hot patterns)

Avoid cold, raw foods, icy drinks or ice cream in the lead up to your period and during your bleed 🩸 to prevent “internal cold” or “stagnation patterns” or may cause a further weakening action on the Stomach and Spleen - cold contracts and may contribute to painful periods in Chinese Medicine Theory.

v y n e -

Our bodies are similar to that of a living plant. Our practitioners aim is to understand the constitutional “root” cause of imbalance within our patients. We are then able to help with the immediate cause of pain, discomfort or disease called the “branch” aspect of each patients main health concern.

Understanding the cause of the problem opposed to just treating the symptoms, allows our root system to remain healthy and our branches to remain strong. If we don’t address an underlying ‘root’ cause of an illness or health concern our symptoms (aka branches) will become problematic and like a vine, branches may strangle or become dry and brittle lacking in vitality and health.

The connectedness and understanding of each patients root and branch is essential in every treatment to create successful and long lasting results.
