We are so impressed with our patients. 🌱👏

Nicolle has been busy packaging up PharmaCycle blister pack recycling boxes ready to send off, and as you can see, the response has been overwhelming. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to bring their packs in and do their bit for the environment.

This initiative is one way we put our Environmental Sustainability Policy into action, guided by a circular economy mindset that focuses on reducing waste and giving materials a second life.

While we initially offered this to everyone, we’ve had to limit the program to current patients only. Each recycling box represents a significant cost to the practice, and with boxes filling weekly due to strong demand, we’ve had to ensure the program remains financially sustainable while continuing to support its incredible uptake.

We all hear about polarised sunglasses…but do you know what that actually means? Polarised lenses are designed to block horizontal glare (the harsh light that reflects off roads, water and sand), while still letting the useful light through so you can see clearly. A simple way to picture it is like vertical blinds: the blinds only let light through in one direction, and block the glare coming from the wrong angle. In this video we’re holding a polarised lens in front of a special image. You can only see the colours properly once the glare is filtered out. A great little demo of what polarisation really does!

Martin attended last week's Commencement service at Investigator College to present the See Optometry Science Award. This award is given annually to the best Year 12 Science student at each of the high schools in Victor Harbor and surrounds.
