Today we’re proud to be supporting the incredible volunteers at Aldinga Bay Surf Life Saving Club ☀️🏖️

Thanks to the generous support of the Aldinga Bay Surf Life Saving Club, our Skintech nurses were on site this morning providing skin checks to help keep these everyday heroes safe while they keep our beaches safe.

Early detection is key, and regular skin checks can make all the difference.

A big thank you to the lifeguards — and to the club for taking the skin cancer risks facing their volunteers seriously and prioritising their health. 💙

Last Saturday at the Tanunda Show we sent the Skintech Medical team along to provide free skin checks to the attendees. 85 people were checked with the Skintech team noting a younger demographic being checked than they usually see. (Great!) It was concerning though that out of these 85 people there were 15 possible melanomas detected. (Not so great)
We will be sending the team along to the Barossa Co-op Mall in June for our annual 2 day pop up clinic. Keep your eyes on our Socials as it gets closer to June to see the dates and for online booking.

Thanks to the amazing fundraising work of The Tony Kuchel Skin Cancer Foundation our Skintech team is excited to be heading to the Barossa this Saturday for the Tanunda Show. Our team including Dr Scott Masters, Dermoscopy Nurse Nadia and our admin girls will be set up and ready to go from 8.30am this Saturday 14th March located at the Tanunda Showgrounds

OptimaScan 3D Total Body Photography from MetaOptima Technology is now available at Skintech Medical.

In conjuction with your full skin check OptimaScan imaging is a long-term surveillance tool to assist in improving monitoring accuracy, particularly for high risk patients.

Total Body Photography should be considered if any of the following is relevant to you:

* If you have many moles or lesions on your body
* Have atypical or unusual looking moles
* Have a personal or family history of melanoma
* Are very fair skinned or have had a lot of sunburns
* Have a history of using tanning beds or solariums
* For areas of the body you cannot see e.g. back or scalp

Last meeting, President Peter welcomed Dr. Steve Brooks from Skintech Medical, who stressed the importance of regular skin checks and sunscreen use. With two in three Australians affected by skin cancer, early detection is key.

Melanoma can spread through the lymphatic system, while other types invade nerves. UV exposure is the main cause, and sunscreen takes 20 minutes to activate and must be reapplied every 2-4 hours.

✅ 90% of melanomas are treatable with surgery.
✅ A 20-minute skin check can detect concerns early.
✅ No referral needed—just book an appointment.

President Peter then thanked Steve for an interesting and scary presentation and for sharing details about a truly fabulous local service.
