Boxing can improve balance, mood, strength and quality of life in patients with Parkinson’s Disease (Wang et al., 2025).

Boxing incorporates elements of all types of exercise like high intensity interval training, aerobic conditioning, coordination, agility/balance work and upper/lower body resistance, which all involve mobility of the spine.

Hence, it can be considered neuro protective and can slow the progression of Parkinson’s Disease.

Chocolate milk for the win!

There is growing evidence that chocolate milk has a genuine effect on strength and post-exercise recovery, with some research suggesting it outperforms common carbohydrate-based supplement drinks in strength facilitation and time to exhaustion after exercise (Amiri et al, 2019; Born et al, 2019).

This may occur for a number of different reasons including:

👉 Aiding muscle repair with its protein content
👉 Hydrating the body with its electrolyte/salt and water levels
👉 Increasing muscle glycogen levels (bodies fuel source) through glucose and lactose content

Longer term studies are still needed in various populations especially people with medical conditions (given its high sugar content) but the available literature provides some justification that less expensive alternatives to traditional supplement based drinks are genuine options for post-exercise recovery.
