Back-to-school lunchboxes can feel like a daily puzzle, especially when you’re trying to keep it quick, affordable, and something your child will actually eat.

To help take the pressure off, here are a few simple lunchbox ideas (and some fruit & veg options) to suit schools that run Crunch & Sip / Munch & Crunch.

Crunch & Sip / Munch & Crunch ideas (fruit + veg)
Apple or pear slices (a squeeze of lemon helps stop browning)
Banana halves (leave in peel for less mess)
Grapes (cut lengthways for younger kids)
Mandarin segments
Strawberries or blueberries
Watermelon cubes
Carrot sticks, cucumber sticks, capsicum strips
Cherry tomatoes
Sugar snap peas

* A small tub of hummus or tzatziki for dipping

Sandwich / wrap / roll with: chicken + salad, ham + cheese, egg + lettuce, tuna + cucumber or just simple spreads
Mini pita pockets
Pasta salad (cold) with cheese + corn + cucumber

Looking for something to do with the younger littlies while the big kids head back to school next week?

Why not plan a little outing to Daisy Hill Koala Centre. It’s a relaxed, family-friendly spot to see koalas up close, take a wander through the bush tracks, and enjoy an easy morning out without the chaos.

Looking for something fun to do with your participant or the whole family?

Helping Hands is keeping an eye out for great, low-stress local outings to help you with ideas and CSi Club Southport is one worth checking out. It’s super family-friendly with two playgrounds (for different ages) plus a fully fenced splash pad right alongside the outdoor dining area, so the kids can play while you enjoy a bite to eat.

They’ve also got a fun-looking Australia Day event “The Wheelie Big Bash” (a family street cricket-style bash) on Monday 26 January 2026 from 10:00am. It looks like a great time for all ages.
