A full circle moment
I attended Leeton Preschool (54 years ago and in a different location), did my Yr 10 work experience at these premises although it was a smaller building then and return today to present a parent workshop on Helping your child to succeed through Early Intervention

Early Intervention was so important for our boys and for Tony and I to learn about their disability so we could best support them. So sharing my journey and information about early intervention is special to me

I would like to extend my thanks to the Tumut Library for graciously hosting a book talk. This event provided a wonderful opportunity to engage meaningfully with the community. During our discussion, we explored the often complex reality of receiving a disability diagnosis for children and delved into the various ways we can support families facing these challenges. It was enlightening to share insights and strategies, and to discuss how we can support families. Together, we discussed the importance of fostering a supportive environment within our local community, emphasising how collective efforts can make a significant difference in the lives of those affected. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to such a vital conversation.

It was an honour to present my book, ‘Embracing Disability in Early Childhood,’ to Professor Mary Louise Hemmeter as part of her thank you gift during the 21st Annual Riverina ECA Awards. This occasion not only celebrated the remarkable contributions within the early childhood education field, but it also provided a unique opportunity to acknowledge Professor Hemmeter’s dedication and influence. I hope that my book will serve as a valuable resource for her work and a means of inspiring meaningful discussions about inclusivity and support for children with disabilities in early childhood settings. Being able to contribute to the conversation around such an important topic is the basis of my work. I am deeply grateful for the recognition and support from the Riverina ECA community and look forward to continuing our shared mission of fostering inclusive environments for all children.

Such a pleasure to return to Cobargo Preschool to present another workshop

The educators are so keen to learn how to better support the children they work with.

They clearly know each individual child very well and want to find solutions and strategies for each child while supporting the group of children that attend each day.

On the day of the workshop I had a question from an educator that led to great discussion during the workshop. Customised workshops allow for opportunities like this to encourage questioning regarding their practice and how it meets the needs of the children and educators.
