It was great to join other MPs and world expert Associate Professor Simon Chu at an ovarian cancer awareness event at Parliament House.

It’s very important to be aware of the symptoms, including the rare Granulosa Cell Tumour, and to be aware of the need for more life-saving research. It was also a moving experience to hear the stories of those affected and to raise our arms in the “Angel Wings of Awareness” for this critical issue.

Knowledge and appropriate funding are critical tools in treating cancers and I thank the Rare Ovarian Cancer Group for bringing this important issue to our attention.

We are incredibly grateful to have Nicky Buckley representing Ovarian Cancer Australia on I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here Australia 💙🌴

Nicky has been a passionate advocate for our cause ever since losing her mother, Joan, to ovarian cancer over 20 years ago. She's been a longstanding impactful OCA Ambassador and has this week touched down in the African jungle, giving it her all to raise awareness and funds for Ovarian Cancer Australia.

As Nicky shared with New Idea Magazine: “Mum was only a few years older than I am now and there were no detectable symptoms for her until it was too late. I’m doing [the show] for Mum.”

Nicky also made the difficult decision to undergo a full hysterectomy last year due to the genetic link to ovarian cancer. "I didn’t want to have that worry hanging over my head anymore."

Braving the jungle, facing trials and overcoming her fears, Nicky is competing to win $100,000 for our community. Let’s support her as she does this for her mum, her family, and every woman and their loved ones affected by ovarian cancer.

You can support Nicky by watching I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here Australia 7pm Sun, 7.30pm Mon-Thurs on Channel 10 & 10 Play. Read the full New Idea story here: https://www.newidea.com.au/celebrity/nicky-buckley-im-a-celebrity-get-me-out-of-here/
