Murrumbidgee Speech Pathology, previously Jackie Stening Speech Pathology was created by Jackie Stening in 2019. It started as a single speech therapist working out of a room in Body Compass Health. Fast forward to 2021 and Murrumbidgee Speech Pathology is now home to three speech pathologists, Jackie, Kate S and Kate L, and an allied health assistant, Jane. In March 2021, we moved to the Lake Vil

lage Shopping centre, in the arcade across from Glenrock Doctors Surgery. We have a three room space where we hold one on one and group sessions with children and adults. We aim to develop solid relationships with our clients and their families and gain respect from the community. If you require speech pathology or educator services, please either phone, email or call in. We look forward to meeting you!

We are so impressed with Virginia and Little Hearts - Nursing and Ability Care . All of the staff attended our workshop on using Key Word Sign to support communication. Using Key Word Sign helps with understanding and communicating. Our superstar AHA Jane runs these two hour workshops regularly, and can tailor it to meet the language used in your particular setting.

Meet the team: Chloe

What made you want to do speech pathology?
When I left school I knew I wanted to work in health. I was really attracted to speech because I thought that every day would be different, fun and exciting. I was right!

What do you enjoy doing in your free time outside of work?
I love making things and I am always looking for a new art class to try. I have tried all kinds of different arts and crafts, including macrame, water colour, painting, paper cutting and Lino printing.

Sweet or Savoury?
Definitely sweet! Ice cream is my favourite food.

What’s one piece of advice you would give to someone thinking about persuing a career in Speech Pathology?
Do it! It’s a fun and rewarding career. Every day you get to come to work and build relationships with people and support them to achieve their goals. You get to dig down into the research behind what you are doing, but also get to be creative.

Tough choice, either flying or teleportation.

PUBLIC STATEMENT ON NDIS PRICING ARRANGEMENTS AND QUARTERLY FUNDING PERIODS

There have been some recent significant changes introduced to the NDIS pricing arrangements, as well as the introduction of quarterly funding periods.

These changes are already affecting participants, and the advocacy bodies are working to have your voices heard. To this end, Reimagine is a proud co-signatory to the Every Australian Counts Statement.

However, given what you have told us about the impact of these changes directly on children and families, and that they are already being deeply felt, we have developed our own statement specific to children with disability, developmental delay, and neurodivergence.

If you would like to add your organisation as a co-signatory to the Reimagine Australia Statement, please email us at ceo@reimagine.org.au

You can access our statement here:

Meet the team: Jackie

What made you want to do speech pathology?
I can’t really remember it was so long ago! I think it was because I wanted to work with kids.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time outside of work?
I like to watch football, read books and generally laze about! I also LOVE looking after my little grandson Aiden.

Are you a sweet or savoury person?
Savoury, I cannot have chicken chips in the house!

What’s one piece of advice you would give to someone thinking about pursuing a career in speech pathology?
DO IT!!! I am really grateful everyday because I am doing a job that I still love. I also love that our work is so interesting and I am still learning every single day, it’s never boring!

If you could have one superpower what would it be?
Sometimes at work I would love a magic wand, some of what we do is hard work for parents and kids.
