Ever notice how winter makes you question your productivity?
Me too.
After a busy summer of part-time work alongside running my biz, I’ve found myself completely slowing down.
With a lot more white space in my calendar, I’ve had a lot of time to think “am I doing enough?”
We’re so conditioned to tie our worth to how much we produce - how many hours we work, how fast we move, how much we get done, how much money we make.
It’s part of the culture we live in where economic productivity is everything and rest is seen as a weakness.
I’ve been struggling with this for a while, juggling the balance of rest and a slow-lifestyle without feeling guilty.
But the truth is, our bodies and businesses have seasons. And winter is naturally a season for rest, reflection, and rebuilding your foundations.
Lately, I’ve been:
- Creating new resources and freebies to support my clients
- Strengthening the backend of my business
- Reconnecting with my own gut and nervous system care
- Spending time on long walks, regular pilates classes, and multiple dance classes a week
- Letting myself reconnect with creative projects
And it’s reminding me of how important rest (without the guilt) is for long-term nervous system regulation which then improves our gut, hormones, periods and entire health.
Slowing down is essential.
Right now, I’m also hearing from a lot of women stuck in the cycle of unexplained digestive issues, excessive fatigue, weight that won’t shift and hormone issues they can’t get relief from.
The nervous system is usually right at the centre of this.
So if you’re noticing the winter slowdown too, maybe it’s not a problem to fix.
Maybe it’s a chance to tend to your foundation. To rest and to reconnect with what actually matters.
