One thing about me… I am an organisational queen and I love tracking data. It’s how I make sure nothing important gets missed in your case.

When we talk during a consult, I’m not just listening to the symptom you booked in for. I’m mapping the entire picture of your health.

In one section I list all of your current and past health concerns. Energy, sleep, digestion, mood, pain, medical history… everything that helps me understand how your body has been functioning over time.

Next, I list the visible contributing factors that may be influencing your symptoms. Things like low fibre intake, chronic stress exposure, poor sleep or lack of movement. These are often the practical areas we can work on together to help you start feeling better.

Then I map out the possible mechanisms happening under the surface. Nutrient deficiencies, hormonal shifts, microbiome imbalances, inflammation or metabolic changes. As we work together, we keep refining this picture.

I also track the priorities you share with me. You might come in for bloating, but during the session we might uncover fatigue, painful periods or sleep issues that also need support.

And finally, I track the strategies and interventions we implement so we can see what is working, what needs adjusting, and where to focus next.

Supporting your health is about tracking patterns, connecting the dots, and making sure every step we take moves you closer to your goals.

If you’re ready to understand what your symptoms are really trying to tell you, you can book a consultation via the link in my bio or DM me.

Parasite cleanses get talked about a lot online as the ā€œmissing pieceā€ for chronic gut issues. Bloating, fatigue, skin flares, sluggishness, food reactions…

But here is the part that is often left out.

Many parasite cleanses use very high dose antimicrobial herbs and that level of potency does not just target parasites. Evidence shows it can wipe out beneficial gut bacteria, irritate the gut lining and encourage growth of inflammatory microbes.

When the gut lining is already inflamed or sensitive, this kind of approach can actually make symptoms worse.

In clinical practice, it is actually quite rare for active parasites to be the main driver of someone’s symptoms. And even when certain organisms are present (as confirmed through PCR testing), it is not always appropriate to try and aggressively eradicate them. Sometimes doing so can cause more harm than good.

The better question I often ask is, why was the gut vulnerable in the first place?

Low stomach acid can mean pathogens are not being properly broken down before they reach the intestines. A weakened gut lining can make it easier for unwanted microbes to take hold. Long term stress, repeated antibiotics, alcohol, food additives like emulsifiers and preservatives, and a low fibre diet can all slowly shift the microbiome and the gut environment.

Over time, this can lead to bacterial overgrowths, inflammation, and increased susceptibility to other microbes. The parasite is often a sign of an imbalanced environment, not the root cause.

Instead of jumping straight to a harsh cleanse, the focus should be on rebuilding the terrain. Supporting digestion, strengthening the gut lining, restoring beneficial bacteria, and calming inflammation. That is where long term change happens.

If you have been thinking about a parasite cleanse because nothing else has worked, it might be time to look deeper at what your gut actually needs.

Do you really need all of those supplements?

The supplement industry is inundated with products. Some are research backed. Others are built on trends, fads and influencers designing products. No wonder it feels overwhelming!

Take THIS for gut health.
Take THIS for acne.
You also need THIS to balance hormones.
You need THIS because you might not be getting enough vitamins from your diet.
You need THIS to digest food better.
You need THIS for stress.
You need THIS to slow ageing.
You need THIS for mood.
You need THIS for sleep.
You need THIS for concentration and energy.

It is exhausting.

As a naturopath who is not even consistent with her own supplements, I am always questioning the why behind prescribing them.

The principle understanding of naturopathy is that the body has the ability to heal itself when given the right tools and when obstacles to cure are removed.

The foundation = optimised nutrition, sleep, movement, rest and sunlight.

Supplements = support. They are not the foundation.

When you work with me, you will always receive a clear explanation for why something is being recommended, not just a bottle handed to you without context.

If you are tired of guessing, self prescribing, or feeling overwhelmed by supplements, let’s simplify it and focus on what your body actually needs.

This week in clinic I supported clients with perimenopausal symptoms, endometriosis, PMDD and complex gut issues.

The shared pattern across all of these cases was ā€œnormalā€ blood tests.

Yet these individuals were dealing with severe fatigue, mood swings, heavy periods, brain fog, bloating and symptoms that were affecting their daily lives.

Blood tests are an important tool, but they do not always tell the full story. Sometimes the values are technically ā€œwithin rangeā€ while the body is already showing signs of under function.

If your cells are not doing their job properly, symptoms appear long before things become ā€œabnormalā€ on paper.

Blood tests can still reveal important patterns such as declining nutrient status, rising inflammation, and subtle signs of under function when interpreted through a functional lens.

If you’ve been told everything looks fine but you still don’t feel like yourself - get a second opinion.

DM me SECOND OPINION if you’d like me to review your blood tests. šŸ’š

March bookings are now open šŸ’š

Online consults are available Wednesdays and I have in-person sessions available on Fridays throughout the month.

Many of the people who come to see me are dealing with symptoms that don’t quite make sense. Blood tests look ā€œnormalā€, but they still feel exhausted, bloated after meals, struggling with their weight, or dealing with ongoing hormonal or digestive issues.

These are the exact situations I work with every day in clinic. By taking a deeper look at gut health, metabolism, hormones, inflammation and nutrient status, we can start to understand what your body is actually trying to tell us and create a plan to support it.

DM me to book or find the link in my bio.

We’ve all seen the same recycled advice online:

Eat more protein.

Take turmeric for inflammation.

Eat more fibre.

And while these tips can be helpful in theory, they don’t work for everyone. Here’s why:

1. ā€œEat more proteinā€

Many of my clients actually struggle to digest protein because their stomach acid is low or their nervous system is in fight-or-flight. When we push more protein without repairing digestion first, it can make fatigue, heaviness and bloating worse.

2. ā€œTake turmeric for inflammationā€

Inflammation is your body’s way of responding to something out of balance. Turmeric and NSAIDs can quiet the flames for a moment, but unless we address what’s fuelling the fire the symptoms will keep coming back.

3. ā€œEat more fibreā€

Fibre is essential long term, but for many individuals with IBS or bloating it can make things worse due to gut microbiome imbalances causing overfermentation. Fibre is crucial for long-term health, but the gut has to be in the right state. Repair comes before rebuild otherwise the body stays reactive with bloating and digestive upsets.

So if you’ve ever tried all the ā€œhealthyā€ things and still felt worse, you’re not broken. You just need an approach that starts with understanding your root cause, not a one-size-fits-all plan.

Tell me in the comments, what’s the most common piece of advice you’ve tried that didn’t work for your body?

Behind the scenes of clinic this week… 🌿

Here’s what being a naturopath actually looks like.

I worked with multiple clients navigating chronic IBS, loose stools, bloating, and constipation, always asking why the gut isn’t functioning properly in the first place.

There were conversations about chronic stress, iron deficiency, fatigue, heavy periods, and optimising gallbladder and liver function.

I worked with histamine intolerance driving migraines and neurological symptoms, restoring gut function to calm immune overactivation. And I took a holistic approach with tinnitus and chronic headaches, exploring cellular dysfunction rather than just bandaid-ing symptoms.

This is what I love most about my work šŸ’š

Connecting the dots between gut, immune system, hormones, stress and metabolism to get to the root cause.

If you’re tired of managing symptoms and ready to understand what’s actually driving them, it’s time for a second opinion.

This past week I interpreted five gut microbiome tests for clients, all completed through Microba. Every single one gave us real answers.

Some of the most common drivers of gut issues I’m seeing right now:

- Methanogen overgrowth
Often responsible for slow gut motility, leading to bloating, gas and constipation

- Hydrogen sulphide overgrowth
Linked to sulphur-fermenting bacteria, often causing rotten egg smelling gas, loose stools, abdominal pain and bloating

- Intestinal permeability
A damaged gut lining that affects absorption and can show up as fatigue, bloating and food reactions

This test uses DNA from a stool sample to show us which species are living in the gut, how the gut lining is functioning, and whether inflammatory or opportunistic microbes are present. From there, we can connect the dots between your symptoms and what is actually happening inside your microbiome.

Your gut microbes are not just about digestion. They influence immunity, metabolism, mood, brain function, hormones and more. Some species make beneficial compounds that protect your health, while others can drive inflammation and contribute to issues like weight changes, liver stress, menstrual concerns and poor mental health.

Many of the clients I saw have been struggling with ā€œunexplainedā€ symptoms for years. They have tried low FODMAP, cut gluten and dairy, taken random probiotics, been prescribed antidepressants, and some have even tried weight loss medications. Yet their symptoms kept coming back.

I was so excited to finally explain the mechanisms behind what they have been feeling.

Often, we read information online that tells us we need to do a parasite cleanse, take fibre supplements, avoid certain foods to ease our gut. This might work in the short term but can often do more harm than good.

With specific microbiome testing, we can see which bacteria are overgrown and what they are feeding on. Sometimes my clients are eating a very ā€œhealthyā€ high-fibre diet, but certain fibres are actually fuelling the exact microbes causing their symptoms. Once we identify that, we can temporarily reduce those triggers, settle the overgrowth, and then carefully reintroduce foods without the same reactions.

If you have ongoing digestive symptoms that do not make sense, microbiome testing can be a powerful piece of the puzzle. And if testing is not in your budget right now, there are still ways we can begin supporting your gut.

5 things I would never do as a naturopath

As a leader in holistic health, my role is to combine the science of biochemistry and nutrition with the art of natural medicine. That means supporting you with integrity, clarity and compassion. Here are five things you will never experience in my clinic:

1. Make you cut out your favourite foods just for the sake of it
Food should bring joy as well as nourishment. We focus on balance, not restriction, so you can still enjoy the things you love.

2. Shame you for taking medication
Your health journey is your own. Medication can be life-saving and supportive, and my role is to help integrate natural strategies safely alongside your medical care.

3. Dismiss your symptoms as irrelevant or ā€œjust in your headā€
Every symptom is a clue. I listen carefully, connect the dots, and investigate root causes so you feel heard, respected and understood.

4. Tell you that you ā€œneedā€ expensive supplements
My recommendations are always based on what I know will best support your health outcomes. The choice is yours, and supplements are purchased separately via Vital.ly This ensures there are no hidden costs as my consult fees are fixed and transparent (see website for up-to-date fees)

5. Overwhelm you with jargon without explaining the ā€œwhyā€
I see my role as an educator as much as a practitioner. You’ll always understand why I’m recommending something, so you can make empowered choices about your health.

True holistic health is about partnership, not pressure. I’m here to educate, guide and lead with evidence and care so you can feel confident in every step of your journey.
