This past weekend Sonia attended advanced Pilates Rehab courses in Melbourne, led by physiotherapist Dav Cohen from Polestar Pilates Studio. It was great to reconnect with Polestar, the same education provider where she completed her Pilates Teacher Training in 2022, to continue building on that foundation.

Sonia was grateful for the opportunity to deepen her understanding in key areas of interest:
✔️ The management of hip tendinopathy and bursitis
✔️ Persistent joint pain
✔️ The role of nervous system regulation to optimise healing

The goal? To translate complex science into better outcomes in the clinic, helping clients move with less pain, more confidence and improved biomechanical control for lasting results. Sonia integrates this knowledge into your program using:
✔️ Progressive tendon loading
✔️ Functional movement strategies
✔️ Breath and movement techniques that help regulate the nervous system to optimise recovery

🌟JOSH HANLON🌟 Consider yourself lucky if you know this incredible human, and even luckier if you’re welcomed into the Hanlon Clan 🙌✨ As Josh’s physio in his early rehab, I witnessed firsthand the determination and resilience that define him. He and his family, from the earliest days, were filled with hope, determination, and an unwavering drive to reclaim a full life for Josh, without limitations. It’s been an absolute ✨JOY✨ to see what Josh has achieved — FLYYYYing down a mountain at crazy speeds (🫣😅) — knowing he loves the thrill, the freedom, and the joy of where he is now. Get behind him as he races the Combined tonight at 9pm 🙌🙌🙌🤩🤩🤩👏👏👏 Come on

✨Happy International Women’s Day✨ Thinking today of my beautiful clients who I’m honored to help, and always brighten my day in the clinic. My inspiring colleagues over the last 20 years who’ve mentored and supported me. Thinking of the female doctors who’ve provided their knowledge and expertise to me and my children as we’ve faced new diagnoses in the last few years - their clarity helped guide us out of the fog. Of the women who cared for my children through daycare and preschool so I could return to work - knowing they were in safe and loving hands meant that I could. Of the teachers who show up for my kids now that they’re at school, and cheer them on. Thinking of my mother who’s grit and strength I haven’t seen matched to date. Of my sisters who show up every day, striving to be good humans for their families and the world, and who guide me when I feel lost. Of my mother-in-law who is always present in our lives, with warmth and love, and without complaint when we need her “hands-on”. Of my wider extended family of aunts, cousins, and sister in-laws who’ve taught me about how many ways of life are possible and about motherhood. The meaningful community of ‘school mums’ who I lean on and adore - carpools I’m grateful for, and chats that lift me when I need a vent or a laugh. And my incredibly meaningful circle of close female friends who I honestly couldn’t imagine life without…Friendships that have taught me so much, made me grow in ways I couldn’t imagine, and reminded me how FUN life can be. So many women who have influenced my life. I’m so proud to be a woman, and I’ll never stop supporting, cheering, and advocating for women 📣📣📣✨✨✨

Riverina Farmer Aaron McCarthy never imagined a farming accident would be the reason he's now pushing for selection for snowboarding in the upcoming Winter Paralympic Games. 🏂🏂🏂
"Snowboarding's just given me a whole new sense of freedom. It's probably the one thing that's saved me from going down a dark spiral of depression and mental illness."

The father of three lost his lower left leg in a harvest accident in The Rock four years ago and only started seriously competing when he was introduced to it at his recovery clinic in Thredbo.

The team is set to be announced tonight.

Why Strength Train in Midlife?

💪 Preserves Muscle Mass: We have peak muscle mass at around 30 years old. Aging naturally brings the loss of muscle mass and women in midlife experience increased losses with declining estrogen. Strength training helps to preserve and even increase it!

💪 Improves Balance & Mobility: Regular strength training enhances balance, coordination and flexibility, helping you enjoy your daily activities more.

💪 Boosts Bone Health: Loading muscle beyond body weight only (i.e. weight training) is essential for women in midlife. Weight training increases bone density, preventing or reducing the development of osteoporosis.

💪 Supports Weight Management: Strength training boosts your metabolism, helping you maintain a healthy body weight and prevent disease.

💪 Heart and brain health: Strength training helps prevent disease (e.g. heart disease, stroke) and has been proven to boost mood, alleviate symptoms of depression and anxiety, and prevent dementia in later life.

💪 Midlife Mojo: Women's Strength & Cardio Class

Join us for our April 2025 session of Midlife Mojo, a Group Exercise Class specifically created and led by physiotherapist Dr Sonia McMullen, PT, DPT.

As we get older, our bodies undergo several changes that can impact how we approach exercise, including cardio. In midlife, typically in your 40s or 50s, it's important to adapt your cardio routine so you get the best benefits and feel great too!

Midlife Mojo is designed for women who want to learn how best to do strength and cardio training in midlife. This class's purpose is to give you the confidence to continue on your own independently once the class is completed. Our aim is that you feel better now AND future-proof your health to combat the aging process and prevent disease.

📅 Mondays at 6pm, starting 28 April 2025 (4 week program)
