Today, we pause to honour the incredible ANZACs, past and present, whose courage, sacrifice, and spirit have helped shape the country we’re so proud to call home. 🌿

Among our Lake Road Vet family, we’re especially grateful for those who have served, and for the stories, values, and resilience they’ve brought into our team. Their dedication doesn’t just live in history - it lives on in the way we care, support, and show up for each other and for you.

As you scroll through these moments from our Lake Road, our team, and our extended family, we hope you feel what we do… a deep sense of gratitude and connection. ❤️

Because at the heart of everything we do is something simple, but powerful:
Building healthy families - with compassion, courage, and community.

A special thank you to our team for sharing their families’ photos, these stories are part of who we are. 🤍

Lest we forget. 🌺

💛 A little call-out from the heart… and a chance to help a mum in need 💛

One of our much-loved patients — a gentle, devoted pet ewe — has recently lost her twin lambs.

It’s been a quiet kind of grief… the kind you feel in the paddock when something just isn’t right. She’s still looking, still waiting, still ready to mother.

And that’s where a small bit of hope might begin 🌱

We’re wondering if there may be one or two newborn lambs out there who need her just as much as she needs them.

If you have:
🐑 Orphaned lambs
🐑 Less than 24 hours old
🐑 In need of a nurturing surrogate

…we may be able to help bring them together.

This is what building healthy families can look like — sometimes unexpected, sometimes a little fragile, but always worth trying 💫

Our team can support the process and help give both mum and lambs the best chance at bonding and thriving.

If this might be you, or someone you know, please reach out to us.
We’re here for you — and for the animals who need a second chance at connection 🤍

We wish all of our valued clients a Happy and Healthy Easter.
While we will be open with staff onsite 24/7 we want to share this friendly reminder to keep your pets safe!

🍫 Keep those Easter chocolates out of reach of your pets. Chocolate is very toxic to dogs and can even be fatal when ingested.

🐇Traditional hot cross buns have sultanas and raisins which can cause kidney damage to pets.

🌸Lillies can look like an amazing centre piece but please remember all parts of the plant are poisonous and should be kept away from pets

🐣Decorations make Easter special but they can look tasty to pets and can cause choking or blockages for pets if ingested

🍽️ Resist giving leftovers to those puppy dog eyes as the rich foods we enjoy over the holidays can contain ingredients that are poisonous to pets in large amounts

Take care and we hope this can help your family avoid a pet emergency this Easter.

At Lake Road Veterinary Hospital, our hearts are always with the patients who need us most 💛🐾
Right now, we are caring for several patients in our ICU who require increased monitoring, intensive nursing, and round-the-clock support. These patients need dedicated, focused care — and our team is committed to being there for them every step of the way 🩺✨
As a result, we have limited capacity to admit new hospital patients over the coming days.
If your pet requires hospitalisation, please know:
• Every case will be carefully assessed
• We will guide you through the safest and best plan
• If needed, we’ll help coordinate care with a trusted partner practice
We also want to sincerely thank our wonderful fur parents for your patience and understanding 💛
• Thank you to those who’ve had appointments rescheduled
• Thank you to those who’ve experienced longer waits than usual
• Thank you for your kindness and cooperation
The last few days have brought some challenging circumstances, but our team has shown incredible dedication.
A huge shoutout to our Lake Road family who are working exceptionally hard behind the scenes to ensure every patient receives the compassionate care they deserve 🐶🐱🌟
We are so proud of them — and so grateful for you.

🚨 Urgent Call for Blood Donors – Our Patients Need You 🩸

Right now, we have several critical patients in hospital fighting very hard battles.

Their families are sitting beside them, holding onto hope.
And blood donations could make all the difference.

Over the next 12 hours, we urgently need:

🐶 1–5 canine blood donors
🐱 1–3 feline blood donors

If your pet may be suitable, we would be so grateful.

🐾 Canine donor basics:

• 1–8 years of age
• Over 25kg
• Healthy with no history of major illness
• Calm temperament
• No previous blood or plasma transfusions
• Up to date with vaccinations
• Up to date with heartworm prevention
• Up to date with intestinal worming
• Up to date with flea, tick & mite prevention

🐾 Feline donor basics:

• 1–8 years of age
• Over 4kg
• Healthy with no history of major illness
• No previous blood or plasma transfusions
• Up to date with vaccinations
• Up to date with intestinal worming
• Up to date with flea, tick & mite prevention
• Indoor only OR if outdoors, up to date with FIV (Feline AIDS) vaccination

❤️ Why become a donor?

Being a blood donor doesn’t just save lives — it comes with special benefits:

• A free comprehensive health assessment with every donation
• A free blood test and screening
• Ongoing monitoring of your pet’s health
• Access to our special blood donor benefits program

It’s one of the most generous gifts a pet can give — helping us continue Building Healthy Families when it matters most.

⚠️ Important

Please register via the link below — do not call the hospital right now.

We are currently managing multiple emergencies and experiencing a very high call volume. Our team needs to keep phone lines clear so we can focus on the critical patients in our care.

If you’re able to help, simply register your interest via the link and note:

• Whether you’re available after hours
• Any relevant health history
• Confirmation of vaccination & parasite prevention status
• Whether your pet has ever received blood products

Our team will review submissions and contact you directly if we need your pet tonight, tomorrow, or for future donations.

Thank you for your understanding.
Thank you for your generosity.

Care never sleeps — and neither does our commitment to this community. ❤️

🦘🌿 World Wildlife Day 🌿🦉

Today we celebrate the incredible creatures who share our region.
The kangaroos at dusk.
The tawny frogmouths watching from above.
The tiny orphaned joeys tucked safely into pouches.
The pelicans in the river and lagoons.

And today, we’re incredibly proud to share this…

In the past 12 months alone, 347 wildlife patients have come through the doors of Lake Road Vet. 🤍

347 wild lives.

Some arrived injured.
Some were sick.
Some were orphaned or separated.
Many were in extreme pain and distress.

Every single one mattered.

Because at Lake Road Vet, care never sleeps.
Whether our patient has paws, wings, scales… or a pouch.

Our team provides:
🐾 Emergency triage and pain relief
🩺 Advanced diagnostics
🏥 Surgery and intensive care
🌿 Rehabilitation support
🦘 Return to wild planning

And here’s something many people don’t realise…

There is no government funding to cover the veterinary treatment wildlife receive.

Over the past year, Lake Road Vet has donated thousands of dollars in medical care to ensure injured wildlife get the advanced treatment they need.

On top of that, our team gives endless hours every single week caring for wildlife, often after hours, between appointments, and in the middle of the night.

Because Building Healthy Families doesn’t just mean homes.
It extends to trees, paddocks, riverbanks and skies. 💚

One of the most special moments for our team?
Watching a healed patient return to the wild where they belong.

That never gets old. ✨

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible local wildlife carers.

You are the quiet heroes.
🚗 The late night rescues
💊 The careful medication schedules
🍼 The foster care
📞 The constant coordination
🌿 The unwavering dedication

And a special shout out to the many Lake Road Vet team members who are also wildlife carers, rescuers and rehabilitators outside of work. Your contribution does not go unnoticed.

We are so proud to stand beside you. We’re here for you. 🤍

Lake Road Veterinary Clinic Christmas Party

At the end of each year Lake Rd Vet loves to share the Christmas spirit with the clients and community who make up the Lake Rd Vet Family. This has been a tradition for the last five years and is looked forward to by all our staff and junior family members.

Santa is a big focus for all our fur babies who can’t wait to whisper in his ear, give him a big slurpy kiss and have their photo taken with him.

There are lots of fur baby competitions like best dressed and most Christmassy pet. The younger pet owners enjoy the jumping castle and face painting.

The sausage sizzle is popular and you can still buy baubles for the giving tree. Profits from these activities benefit local rescue groups.
