Calvary Riverina private hospital in Wagga Wagga, NSW, provides a range of services to the Riverina community including Calvary Riverina Surgicentre, Drug and Alcohol Centre, and Maternity and Women’s Health Services. We provide specialist palliative care for acute patients and, as a member of the Palliative Care Alliance, have established links with hospice and home-based community palliative services for both public and private patients. With eight modern operating theatres across two campuses, Calvary Riverina Hospital provides both day and overnight surgical medical services and for more critically ill patients, we provide Intensive Care, Coronary Care and High Dependency units. Other modern, purpose-built facilities include a dedicated hydrotherapy pool and gymnasium. The hospital also features a cardiovascular laboratory, pathology, medical imaging, cancer care centre and BreastScreen NSW. Calvary Riverina Hospital’s award winning Drug and Alcohol Centre offers comprehensive withdrawal and rehabilitation programs, while the Calvary Riverina Surgicentre provides an efficient day surgery for patients who don’t need overnight admission. Founded in 1885 by the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary, Calvary is a charitable, not-for-profit, Catholic health care organisation. Our mission is to provide quality, compassionate health care to the most vulnerable, including those reaching the end of their life. With over 18,000 staff and volunteers, we have a national network of 14 Public and Private Hospitals, 72 Residential Care and Retirement Communities and 19 Community Care service centres.

To mark 100 years of care, Calvary Riverina Hospital will plant 100 ornamental pear trees at Gissing Oval in Turvey Park.

For centuries, trees have symbolised life, renewal and connection, and the pear tree holds special meaning in Calvary's story.

At the first convent of the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary in Nottingham, a pear tree grew in the garden where Venerable Mary Potter and the early Sisters prayed, planned and celebrated as their mission took root.

You’re invited to dedicate a pear tree to someone special, in memory, in gratitude, or in celebration. Sponsor a tree and create a living tribute that will grow for generations: https://ow.ly/LvJV50YtcaW 🌳

The community tree planting event will take place later in the year, with details to be shared closer to the date. Everyone will be welcome to attend.

This year, Calvary Riverina Hospital celebrates 100 years of caring for the people of Wagga Wagga and the wider Riverina community.

Built on the vision of the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary and supported by local parishes and families, the hospital has been part of countless life moments across generations.

Last week marked a significant milestone in our Centenary year as we farewelled O’Connor House. Built in 1944 and later home to the O’Connor House Alcohol and Drug Motivation Centre, the building supported some of the most vulnerable members of our community for decades.

As demolition begins, we honour with gratitude all who worked, healed, and found support within its walls. This is the first step in creating a more connected Riverina Hospital Campus for the future.

We look ahead excited to continue caring for our community for generations to come. Visit our website to learn more: https://ow.ly/WAVf50YprhJ

Our long-serving nurses, Sanchoo Philip and Dona Xavier, have been part of the Mary Potter Palliative Care Unit at Calvary Riverina Hospital since it opened 10 years ago.

They see every day how important it is for people and families in regional communities to have access to compassionate, specialist palliative care, and to know that support is available early, not just at the very end.

Alongside the wider team, they care for patients with dignity, comfort, and respect, and continue to advocate for strong, accessible end-of-life care for the Riverina community. To learn more about the services available at Calvary Riverina Hospital, visit our website: https://ow.ly/vz1h50XVfKE 💙

Students from Wagga Wagga Public School Wagga Public School have unveiled a special artwork now proudly displayed in the palliative care unit at Calvary Riverina Hospital, helping to brighten the space for patients and their families.

Created by Year 3 and Year 4 students as part of the school’s enrichment program, the artwork Tranquil was developed through a collaborative process, with each student contributing ideas and artistic elements. The finished piece was designed to bring peace, colour and comfort during some of life’s most challenging moments.

Thank you to these amazing students for creating something truly priceless and for helping bring comfort, hope and joy to patients, families and staff. 💙

We’re proud to welcome Dr Rebecca Trethowen to Calvary Riverina Hospital.

A Wagga Wagga local who trained in Sydney, Dr Trethowen has returned home to practise obstetrics.

Since starting in September, she has already delivered more than 20 babies and is passionate about improving access to obstetric and gynaecological care for women across the region.

Her return strengthens local healthcare and helps families access specialist care closer to home, and we’re very lucky to have her!
