Reflections of a 49 year old on her birthday……❤️

As I look back on my life, I think about the girl I used to be……and what she needed to hear. So this one’s for her. And for every woman finding her way home to herself.

Live boldly. Don’t shrink to fit the room—expand until it stretches to fit you.

Wear your heart on your sleeve, love with your whole chest, and stop apologising for feeling deeply.

Be kind. And then be kinder. You never know who’s silently breaking.

Let them stare. Let them wonder, flash your b***s if it feels liberating—give them something worth talking about.

You are never “too much” for the right people. If a room makes you feel small, it’s not your room.

Drop judgment. Full stop. None of us know the battles others are fighting.

Use your voice. Even when it’s hard, Especially when it’s hard, because your voice matters!

Do the work. Face your wounds, your shadows, your messy bits. It’s hard. But on the other side is freedom, truth, and a life you don’t need to escape from.

Love yourself—really love yourself. Not for what you do or what you own or who you please… but simply for who you are.

Stop comparing. Your journey is yours alone. Walk it boldly.

Be present. Life isn’t waiting at the finish line—it’s right here, in the every day, the mundane, it’s all a life worth living.

Be authentic. Lose the masks. Show up raw, real, unfiltered. The ones who matter will meet you there.

And forgive. Not because they deserve it, but because you do. Release the weight. Walk lighter.

Life has never been about perfection. It’s about truth, growth, and coming home to yourself again and again.

You don’t need permission to take up space in your own life—this is your damn stage.
So dance like no one is watching ✨

A few weeks ago I went to my first day time dance party, and I had the absolute time of my life!

Over the last 7 years I have worked so hard in letting go of insecurities, not caring what others think of me.
Before that I used to think I needed to be drunk to have fun and to dance in public, but now, in broad daylight surrounded by hundreds of people I can let go…….no need for anything to give me “confidence” or help me “relax”, just pure joy coming from within.

Dance has been a huge part of my life growing up and it has always brought me so much joy, letting go of stagnant energy and connecting with my inner child being free from fear and insecurity is a powerful place to live.

When was the last time you were able to let go and dance like no one was watching??? ✨

Breathe ... and know ... your needs are met ... in ways you don't understand. And in ways that perhaps you don't even want. But that is the challenge. To see life not for ideal circumstances, but rather what they reveal in you for ideal growth.

Tuning in to your own thoughts and talking to yourself is a key element to making changes, if you’re not aware of what you’re thinking and what you’re saying to yourself, you can’t change it.

Affirmations are a great way to start your subconscious reprogramming, a few affirmations repeated daily either out loud or in your mind will make a huge shift in the way you speak to yourself!

Speak to yourself like you would speak to your best friend 💕

Trauma is the translation for the Greek word “wound”

Every trauma or stressful event in our lives become a wound to our soul, our brain, our nervous system and every cell in our bodies.

The most surprising thing I learnt about trauma, was that it not only lives in the conscious mind, but it lives in our bodies.

When my trauma flashbacks started, they came back as sensations in my body and not visible memories, I couldn’t fully piece it together at first, but my body remembered every feeling and continued to be triggered over and over until I worked on it at the core.

Physical illnesses like chronic pain, digestive issues, migraines and many other illnesses can be closely linked to stress and trauma.

Listen to what your body is telling you, if you are struggling with your mental or physical health then working on your underlying trauma (even from childhood) is key to getting your health back and moving forward to live a happy and healthy life ✨

Creating habits and going outside of your comfort zone is important. And there’s also a point where self discipline can be self abuse. When we’re punishing, restricting ourselves, only showing ourselves love or approval when we “accomplish” something… what does this sound like? Sounds very similar to repeating dysfunctional childhood patterns. Doesn’t it?

I notice many people are drawn to pushing themselves constantly. And I do the same to myself. I push myself to expand, do things I’m uncomfortable with, and to show up even when it’s tough. The issue becomes what do you do to yourself when you don’t show up? How do you treat yourself when you don’t accomplish anything? Are you a friend to you or a critical/harsh parent?

The punish-reward system runs deep in our psyche because we’ve been raised within it.

Life is seasonal. Seasons to push and accomplish. And seasons to rest and enjoy.

A lot of us take this personally because it’s painful. The reality is many adults can’t deal with their emotions. When they see someone self expressing or being vulnerable, they’re uncomfortable. They cope with this discomfort by deflecting. They call people too sensitive or too dramatic because they haven’t learned to engage emotionally. Typically they’re completely shut down from what they feel as a way to self protect.

They haven’t learned to hold space.

To just listen. To allow someone’s emotions even when it’s uncomfortable. And to be curious about *why* someone is feeling something.

The next time you hear this, remind yourself sensitivity is a gift. That feeling makes you human. That not everyone is capable of emotional intimacy
