🌿 Grounded Minds – Final Session at Collins Park 🌿
Our final Grounded Minds session was held at Collins Park, where participants gathered once again in nature to reflect on the journey of the past four weeks.
The session began with a guided meditation focused on grounding and reconnecting with the earth. Sitting quietly together in the park, participants were encouraged to slow their breathing, notice the support of the ground beneath them, and use the natural environment as a way to calm the mind and reduce anxious thoughts.
After the meditation, everyone potted up the plant cuttings they had been nurturing during previous sessions into terracotta pots. These plants went home with participants as living reminders of the time spent learning, growing, and connecting.
Over the past month, the group has explored not only how to propagate and care for plants, but also practical tools to manage anxiety and rumination. Just like plants need the right conditions to grow, we all need time, care, and connection to thrive.
Thank you to everyone who took part in Grounded Minds. It has been wonderful to watch both the plants and the participants grow. 🌱✨

Last week at Grounded Minds, we gathered beneath the magnificent Bunya pines at Collins Park for a calming and restorative horticulture session 🌿

Clients began by practising grounding techniques using the five senses, supporting anxiety regulation and helping everyone settle into the present moment. This was followed by a gentle, nature-based meditation - breathing deeply and drawing on the steady, grounding presence of the trees around us.

This week, our focus shifted to propagation. As we took cuttings and explored both water and soil propagation methods, participants reflected on what they personally need to grow and thrive. Just like plants require light, water and nourishing soil, we explored the environmental, relational and internal supports that help us establish strong roots.

There was plenty of shared laughter and reminiscing about past gardening experiences - a beautiful reminder that growth is both personal and deeply connected.

Roots grow quietly before leaves appear. 🌱

20 Feb 2026

History
It was established in 2019 by the UK Royal College of Nursing to shine a spotlight on the vital work of Registered Mental Health Nurses (RMHNs).

Since its creation, the day has continued to grow and is now observed internationally, including Australia.

Facts About Mental Health Nurses

Therapeutic Relationships Evidence consistently shows that the quality of the therapeutic relationship mental health nurses build with consumers is one of the strongest predictors of positive outcomes—such as reduced distress, improved engagement with treatment, and lower rates of self‑harm and relapse.

Specialist Training
Mental Health nursing requires specialist training in areas such as psychopathology, de‑escalation techniques, trauma‑informed care, psychopharmacology, and legal considerations around capacity and consent.

🌿✨ Grounded Minds – Week One ✨🌿

What a beautiful start to our very first Grounded Minds session this Tuesday 18th 💚

Participants rolled up their sleeves and quite literally dug deep — creating their own sensory pots filled with plants symbolising strength, persistence and resilience. Each plant was thoughtfully chosen, representing personal meaning and growth.

Every participant also received their own journal, where we placed polaroid photos of their favourite plants. They were invited to reflect and write about why those plants felt meaningful to them — creating a powerful connection between nature and personal story. 🌱📖

A heartfelt thank you to Matt from Bunnings Warehouse Wagga for generously supplying all the plants and materials that made this session possible. Your support of community wellbeing is truly appreciated.

It was a gentle, grounding beginning filled with reflection, creativity and connection. We’re so excited for what the coming weeks will bring.

Thank-you Stride Mental Health we also wanted to acknowledge the day in an inclusive and respectful way, and your post captures our sentiments beautifully.

We reopen Tuesday 27 January 2026.

As we approach the 26th of January, we recognise it is a day of mixed feelings for many people. We respect these various views and hope that the National Public Holiday be a time for inclusion and understanding as we reflect on our national journey.

We hope the day can bring people together to reflect on the strength, resilience and enduring cultures of First Nations peoples, alongside the diversity and optimism of our multicultural society.

We remain committed to genuine partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, Elders and peoples seeking guidance, permission and shared understanding in how the day is recognised.
