“Should I call an ambulance or drive to hospital myself?”
This is one of the top questions we get asked as paramedics and mums. We cannot give you a black and white yes or no, for legal reasons and because each situation is unique (confusing I know!) and without physically assessing your child it’s impossible to say.
HOWEVER! If you are concerned about any of these factors you should call an ambulance:
👉🏼 Breathing difficulty (noisy breathing, skin retractions, colour change)
👉🏼 Drowsy / or less responsive
👉🏼 Not tolerating oral fluids / less urination
👉🏼 Colour change (pale, mottled, blue, non blanching rash)
👉🏼 Fall from more than 2x child’s height
👉🏼 Seizure activity
👉🏼 Snake or funnel web spider bite
❤️ OR if you just feel that something is not right, you know your child best.
