👉 It’s International Day of Sign Language! 🌏

Sign language isn’t just “English on the hands”. Unlike English, it’s expressed through movement, body posture and facial expressions, with its own grammar and sentence structures. It’s not just a signed version of English, it’s a whole new language!

Wow! – What an amazing night we had at DJ Bingo on Saturday the 6th September! 🪩🕺

The atmosphere was buzzing, with plenty of laughs, music, and fun all around! 🎵

✨ Highlights:
All the auction items went like crazy – thank you to everyone who bid with such enthusiasm! We raised an incredible amount of money to put towards our next event.
Lots of prizes were won, and the energy in the room was fantastic.

Duncan finally found a new home! 🏠

For many years, Duncan required 2:1 support. He lived in a shed on his father’s property due to complex behaviours and high support needs. At one stage, his father attempted to hand over care, but because of difficulties in hospital settings and damage to other homes, Duncan had no choice but to return to his father’s care. 🏡

My Supports Team Leader Tamara, Dunca’s original Support Coordinator, began the process of securing a local purpose-built Robust SDA home for him in Goonellabah. To say they have faced many challenges along the way is truly an understatement. It has involved safeguarding concerns, countless reports, and multiple court appearances. 📑

This Robust SDA build took four years to complete, and it has been one of the most demanding and emotional journeys for Duncan’s entire support team. 💛

But yesterday, Duncan spent his very first night in his forever home, supported by his SIL team. His family cried tears of joy and relief. This chapter has finally closed, and the success is worth celebrating. 🎉

Last week, My Supports’ Leadership came together for the My Supports Conference in Sydney! 🌇

Over two days, we reflected on the progress made in the last 18 months and explored the pathways ahead. As a national provider with staff working in their local communities, opportunities to meet face-to-face are rare, so there was a strong focus on human connection. 🤝

Serious sessions were balanced with light-hearted moments, special contributions from our staff and plenty of humour! 🕺

During the evening dinner, we also celebrated 10 years of My Supports, recognising long-standing team members and sharing the story of how it all began, with two guys in a wheelchair and a long-term carer. 🧑‍🦽👨‍🦽🚶

It offers 24/7 support with two qualified staff on at all times, so help is always available when needed. The house is fully furnished, calm, structured, and sensory-considerate, ideal for someone who prefers a low-stimulation, respectful environment. You’ll have your own private bedroom with ensuite and share the two lounge rooms and a kitchen. Located in Winter Valley and close to public transport, shops, and community services.

Resident 🙍‍♂️
The current resident is a kind and gentle individual who is non-verbal and lives with Autism Level 3 (ASD3). He communicates using alternative methods and enjoys calm, quiet environments. He finds comfort in routine, prefers peaceful spaces, and likes engaging in parallel activities.

You as a housemate 👥
We're looking for another NDIS participant who is comfortable with, or also living with, Autism or another disability and is seeking a quiet, well-supported home. This home would suit someone who values a respectful, structured living environment and is happy to share a space peacefully, without the pressure of socialising. To be eligible you will need SDA and SIL funding.

We value compatibility, respect, and safety above all. Whether you’re non-verbal, semi-verbal, use AAC, or simply want to share space with someone who gets it, this could be the perfect fit! 🧩

This week we are headed for a quick trip over the border for this amazing event to let everyone know about Individualised Living Options. (ILO's)
Being in the Riverland I think we all know how hard it can be to get the many allied health supports needed to come up from Adelaide to support NDIS participants so I have at times reached out the other way and sourced people to come from Mildura... Only fair we return the favour and let them in on the information of ILO's also. The more people who know about the ILO option that may be suitable for NDIS participants, the better supported our community can be.

There will be no dungeons and dragons tonight as our amazing dungeon master Jamie has headed to avcon to wear their awesome cosplay. We are still open to satisfy your other gaming cravings, from board games to miniatures and also card games.

Absolute pleasure to be a part of the indigenous round for Ramco Football Netball Club. The smoking ceremony and acknowledgement of country by Sam Mitchell Training was extremely moving and showed how important connection to country truly is. I'm sure there were many people with goosebumps when Wyley Moxham played the didgeridoo as this was all happening before the first bounce. Pictured in 6 and 7 is Jack Moxham who is the artist who designed the amazing guernseys the boys wore today in their win against Paringa. My Supports is a very proud sponsor for this round and thanks again for letting us be a part of it. Can't wait for next year!
