Stand by Physiotherapists!
It’s been a rough week in a profession that I’ve loved for the past 11 years, especially in the disability and paediatric stream. I’m wondering how many politicians will take a pay cut in the new financial year 😢. Providers cannot sustain these changes and neither can individual health professionals, be prepared for an exodus of physiotherapists and the closing of allied health service providers if this comes to fruition.
These changes directly contradict the goals of the NDIS, which are meant to support people to live more independently and achieve their goals.
Our remote clients are further disadvantaged, for some it will not be viable to visit them anymore - they are already socially isolated because of their disability.
And if you are looking for work, we’ve been advertising for a physiotherapist since September, I’m sure these changes will only make it harder to fulfil with the right candidates now and into the future too.
Yes, I’ll be writing to MPs over the weekend. The Australian Physiotherapy Association is scrambling hard (we all just hope it’s not too late).
