Prevention is in your hands
If you are eligible and want to collect your own sample, your healthcare provider will give you a swab and instructions.
A self-collected sample is taken from the va**na so you don’t need to worry about reaching the cervix or ‘getting the right spot’. All you need to do is insert a swab a few centimetres into your va**na and rotate it for 20 to 30 seconds.

Cervical screening – including self-collection – is facilitated by a doctor or nurse with a rebate for the test provided through Medicare.

Contact us to check if you're due or overdue for a Cervical Screening Test.

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.

Early prostate cancer rarely demonstrates symptoms. Even when prostate cancer is advanced at the time of diagnosis, there may be no symptoms.
Over past years, the number of prostate cancer diagnoses has increased to more than 19,000 each year in Australia.

But increased diagnoses may not be a bad thing: early detection with any cancer can save your life.

Compared with other cancers, prostate cancer has one of the highest five-year survival rates if it is diagnosed early.Prostate cancer is not preventable.

The causes of it are unknown, but factors that can increase the risk include older age (60 to 79) and family history.

There are things you can do that may reduce the risk of getting prostrate cancer.

Aside from a good diet and body weight, there is evidence to show regular physical activity and exercise can be protective factors.

There is no single, simple test to detect prostate cancer. It is important to make your own decision about whether to be tested or not. Ensure you get good quality information from your doctor to make an informed decision.

Chronic Pain Australia wants to draw attention to the experience of people living with chronic pain and, by doing so, reduce the social and other barriers related to living and managing chronic pain. This year’s theme ‘Let them know how strong you are’ and ‘painchanger’ aims to break down the stigma of talking about and seeking care for people experiencing chronic pain. Many are taught to hide their pain for fear of appearing weak.

The “she’ll be right” attitude is often adopted when addressing individuals chronic pain, leading to worsened, long-term impacts for both themselves, their family, friends, and colleagues.

This National Pain Week, we are encouraging a national conversation around people who live with chronic pain. By creating national conversations, we spread useful resources and tools for those living with chronic pain. We often hear people describe trying a new pain management tool as a ‘gamechanger’, so we have created the theme ‘painchanger’ as a play on words for this year’s theme.

❄️Please check in on the elderly this Winter❄️

Many Elders want to feel independent and may not give a true representation of their conditions over the phone.

🤔Is their heating system working?
🤔Do they have enough food?
🤔Do they have enough meds?

✨Phone calls are sometimes not enough, It's better to physically visit them.

⚡️Spark conversations about migraine.⚡️

There are 1 billion people living with migraine and unfortunately millions are dealing with the disease in silence.
For far too long migraine has been synonymous with "a headache". Migraine is a complex neurological disease that impacts nearly every body system most common is sensitivity to light or photophobia. In this case, wearing sunglasses is a preventive measure to avoid photophobia. While it isn't deadly, the condition causes symptoms that rob people of their quality of life. Shades for Migraine gives people the platform to explain the true impact the disease has had on their lives. It is also an easy opportunity for people without migraine to learn about the condition and show they care about the people who live with it. With 1 in 7 people living with the disease, nearly evervone knows someone living with migraine.

Our Story

Waikiki GP Super Clinic was founded in March 2017. A purpose built Medical Practice that provides the local community with high quality health care with 100% bulk billing and is open Monday to Saturday.

Dr. Kiran Puttappa, Medical Director for waikiki GP Super Clinic envisions the Medical Centre to be a place where everyone has access to excellent health care and medical treatment with minimal out of pocket costs.

Our GP's work together with visiting Allied Health Providers to create a one stop facility where all patients can receive ongoing medical care. With pathology and dental onsite and pharmacy located just metres from the Centre, patients can access the treatment required locally to manage their healthcare.

We believe that all people deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, and that our Centre is a place that you will feel safe, valued and heard and where you feel like family.
