The ATSA expo was great today. Lots of interesting stands to check out to keep up to date with all the AT that's available to promote independence. It's on again tomorrow at the Claremont showgrounds for anyone who is interested in attending.

A big thank you to Andrew at Motum for a really great appointment yesterday using the 'Simo'. This great device and its skilled users make the prescription process for wheelchairs a lot smoother. It gives users the opportunity to trial their wheelchair set up prior to ordering a new wheelchair

We have almost completed this job for a young client of mine who was such a delight to work with. She loves a good chat and if it were up to her the bathroom would have had a pink theme!

As you can see in the 'before' pictures, we had a very small space to work with that was not at all wheelchair accessible, functional or safe. The bathroom and laundry were combined to create a large open space, a new, wheelchair accessible doorway was created to allow direct access from the hallway and to allow my client to access her bathroom while seated in her wheelchair, something she hasn't been able to do previously.

Here are the progress photos and I look forward to seeing the finished product very soon.

I was pretty excited to deliver this wheelchair today with Peter from Wild West Wheelchairs. My client needed a wheelchair that could fold up to fit on the back of his modified Harley Davidson and the Offcarr QPX was a perfect fit.

People need wheelchairs for a range of reasons, for some they are dependent on their wheelchair for independent mobility, for others they may need a wheelchair for days when they are particularly fatigued or in a lot of pain. Having access to a wheelchair can enable individuals who would otherwise be quite isolated to access the community with the support of equipment and/or others. Here is one of my clients who is extremely happy to have access to a new self-propelling, manual wheelchair that she can use to support her access to the wider community

I keep my case load small at Coastal OT so that I can provide personalised therapy to my clients and get to know them on a personal and therapy level, that's why it makes it that much more difficult when one of my clients passes away. RIP Scotty. Thanks for always being such a friendly and happy guy who I could always guarantee I would have a laugh with during our sessions. You will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to know you Scott Iles
