Don’t Let Fear Hold You Back

If you or a loved one has fibromyalgia, moving, walking, bending, or even standing can feel scary. This is called kinesiophobia (fear of movement), and it’s a common response when pain is part of daily life.

But here’s the thing: avoiding movement can actually make symptoms worse.

Muscles weaken
Coordination declines
Fatigue increases
Everyday activities feel harder

This can create a cycle of fear → inactivity → worsening symptoms.

Small Steps Make a Big Difference

Gentle, graded movement helps:

Retrain your nervous system
Rebuild confidence in your balance and coordination
Reduce fear of moving safely

This isn’t about “pushing through pain”—it’s about moving safely, gradually, and confidently.

Pain doesn’t have to limit life. Learn more about how gentle, brain-based strategies can rebuild confidence in movement and improve daily function in fibromyalgia.

World Spine Day 2025

Ever wonder how Nicole does it?
She’s a force of nature, balancing work, study, family, and still finding time to move, laugh, and live fully. Her secret? Consistency.

You may not realise it, but Nicole prioritises her own spinal health so she can help you prioritise yours, and she’s been doing it consistently for decades. From yoga and regular adjustments, to outdoor weight training (even in winter!), walking 2–3 times a week, fundraising treks, trail running, supplements, and a healthy love of good food and wine, Nicole embodies what we stand for at Coelevate: real-life balance and sustainable wellbeing.

And that’s what World Spine Day 2025 is all about — raising awareness of how the small, consistent things we do every day can make the biggest difference to our spinal health and overall vitality.

You don’t need to keep up with Nicole — you just need to start where you are, and stay consistent.

This year’s theme is a reminder that caring for your spine doesn’t have to mean big changes — just a little consistency:

Stay active — move in ways that feel good for your body, at any age or fitness level.
Sit smart — good posture and regular breaks go a long way.
Limit screen time — give your neck and mind a rest.
Eat well and hydrate — support your spine from the inside out.
Manage stress — because tension doesn’t just live in your mind.
Sleep well — your spine resets while you rest.

So today, take a moment to check in with yourself: how’s your posture, your movement, your energy?

This World Spine Day, let’s celebrate the small steps that keep us strong, balanced, and moving freely — one day at a time.

Have you ever walked out of a doctor’s office feeling more confused than when you walked in?

You’ve been in pain for months—maybe years.
You’ve had the scans, blood tests, referrals… and everything comes back “normal.”
Maybe you’ve even heard:
“There’s nothing wrong.”
“It must be stress.”
"Maybe it’s in your head.”

But you know the pain is real. It interrupts your sleep. It limits your life. It wears you down.

It turns out, the way your brain and nervous system process sensory information can change how pain is felt—even when there’s no obvious injury or tissue damage.

In people with conditions like fibromyalgia or other medically unexplained pain syndromes, the nervous system may become overly sensitive, turning up the “volume” on pain signals and keeping the body stuck in protection mode.

This is a powerful reminder:
Pain doesn’t always mean damage.
And not all pain shows up on a scan.

Your pain is real.
There are answers.
And there is hope.

Chronic pain can be really tough — especially when doctors can’t find a clear cause on scans or tests. Many people live with ongoing pain that feels very real, but they’re told there’s “nothing wrong” or it’s “all in their head.” One of the most common and frustrating things I hear...

Our patients likely won’t be surprised to hear why the clinic is closed this Saturday....as Nicole is once again off interstate to bring the latest in evidence-based care back to the clinic.

In her spare time (between completing her Masters in Clinical Neuroscience and being accepted for publication (again) in the international journal Frontiers in Pain Science), Nicole is attending Enhance 2025 - an seminar for advanced techniques in low-level laser therapy and its clinical applications for pain management, sports performance, neurological function, and injury rehabilitation.

Many of our patients are already familiar with the benefits of cold laser therapy, with two lasers in regular use in our clinic. This seminar offers the opportunity to deepen that knowledge and refine how these tools are used in complex care.

The event features internationally respected presenters and , and includes both research-based insights and hands-on training.
Nicole is looking forward to bringing back fresh clinical strategies to support better outcomes for patients dealing with chronic pain, neurological issues, or injury recovery.
