Have you ever walked out of a doctor’s office feeling more confused than when you walked in?

You’ve been in pain for months—maybe years.
You’ve had the scans, blood tests, referrals… and everything comes back “normal.”
Maybe you’ve even heard:
“There’s nothing wrong.”
“It must be stress.”
"Maybe it’s in your head.”

But you know the pain is real. It interrupts your sleep. It limits your life. It wears you down.

It turns out, the way your brain and nervous system process sensory information can change how pain is felt—even when there’s no obvious injury or tissue damage.

In people with conditions like fibromyalgia or other medically unexplained pain syndromes, the nervous system may become overly sensitive, turning up the “volume” on pain signals and keeping the body stuck in protection mode.

This is a powerful reminder:
Pain doesn’t always mean damage.
And not all pain shows up on a scan.

Your pain is real.
There are answers.
And there is hope.

Chronic pain can be really tough — especially when doctors can’t find a clear cause on scans or tests. Many people live with ongoing pain that feels very real, but they’re told there’s “nothing wrong” or it’s “all in their head.” One of the most common and frustrating things I hear...

Our patients likely won’t be surprised to hear why the clinic is closed this Saturday....as Nicole is once again off interstate to bring the latest in evidence-based care back to the clinic.

In her spare time (between completing her Masters in Clinical Neuroscience and being accepted for publication (again) in the international journal Frontiers in Pain Science), Nicole is attending Enhance 2025 - an seminar for advanced techniques in low-level laser therapy and its clinical applications for pain management, sports performance, neurological function, and injury rehabilitation.

Many of our patients are already familiar with the benefits of cold laser therapy, with two lasers in regular use in our clinic. This seminar offers the opportunity to deepen that knowledge and refine how these tools are used in complex care.

The event features internationally respected presenters and , and includes both research-based insights and hands-on training.
Nicole is looking forward to bringing back fresh clinical strategies to support better outcomes for patients dealing with chronic pain, neurological issues, or injury recovery.

Happy International Women’s Day!

Today, we celebrate the incredible women we have the privilege of caring for - the mums, the aunts, the grandmothers, daughters, the leaders, the nurturers, and the quiet warriors who show up every day. We see you. We’ve got you.

We also acknowledge the family, friends, partners, and carers who stand beside you. The husbands, the wives, the siblings, the friends who offer support, encouragement, and love through every challenge. Because care isn’t just about the individual - it’s about the network that lifts you up.

We believe healing is a team effort. Our multidisciplinary approach means we work together - with you at the centre - because your well-being deserves a whole-person, whole-community approach.

So today, let’s celebrate the women in our lives AND the people who support them. Tag someone who lifts you up and let’s spread the love.

It's World Hearing Day!

Did you know your hearing and chronic pain might be connected?

Think of your brain’s auditory pathways like the volume control on a stereo. These pathways help regulate how loudly or softly we hear sounds. When everything’s working well, it keeps the volume at a comfortable level. But in conditions like fibromyalgia, it’s like the volume control gets stuck, making everyday sounds feel much louder and more overwhelming, which can also lead to increased pain sensitivity, dizziness, and even hearing issues. This heightened sensitivity can also contribute to fatigue, stress, and difficulty managing daily life.

On World Hearing Day, let’s empower those living with hearing loss and chronic pain by recognising the connection between hearing health and pain.

If you or someone you know has noticed increased sensitivity to noise or dizziness alongside chronic pain, you’re not alone. Take a look at our blog post here:

Feeling Like the World Is Spinning?

Dizziness or vertigo can strike when you roll over in bed, stand up too quickly, or even during daily tasks. It’s unsettling and can impact your life more than you realise.

What’s Happening?

Dizziness is a general feeling of being lightheaded, woozy, or off-balance, while vertigo is the more specific sensation that you or your surroundings are spinning, even when you’re perfectly still. These symptoms can stem from a variety of causes, including Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV)—triggered by certain head movements, vestibular migraines, or persistent conditions like Persistent Postural Perceptual Dizziness (PPPD), which can linger for weeks or months if untreated.

The Good News:

Treatments like Vestibular Rehab Therapy (VRT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can help you regain your balance, confidence, and control.

Learn more about the causes and treatments in our latest blog.
