🌟 DR. ALMARASHI IS BACK! 🌟

Taking bookings from Monday 1st September

Dr Mohammad Almarashi has been practicing medicine in Australia since 2010, after obtaining his bachelor's of medicine (honors degree) in Ireland in 2009.

He trained in hospital medicine in multiple training hospitals, before starting his journey in General Practice in Mediq wallan in 2015. He obtained Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2021.

He enjoys all aspects of General Practice, including acute presentations and chronic conditions, mental health, and health screening.

In his spare time, he enjoys day trips with the family, and sports.

FLU VACCINES

Flu vaccines are now available at the clinic for eligible patients:

- Children aged 6 months to under 5 years from your doctor (GP) or local council immunisation service
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 6 months and older
- Adults aged 65 years and older
- Pregnant women (at any stage of pregnancy)
- Individuals with certain medical conditions that increase the risk of severe flu.

The flu can be serious, especially for children. Everyone 6 months and older is recommended to get the annual flu vaccine.

Babies and toddlers need special protection from the flu, and the vaccine is just as important as other routine childhood vaccines. It helps protect them from the most common flu strains.

The vaccine protects you, your family, and the community. It also helps reduce the risk of severe illnesses and flu related complications. The vaccine is free for eligible priority groups.

This winter season, help protect your child from serious illness with a free flu vaccine.,The flu can be serious.

Introducing Dr Ghaddir Raslan

Have you met our new registrar, Dr Ghaddir Raslan?

Dr Raslan joined us in February 2024, and has availability across the week and on alternate Saturdays.

Dr Raslan graduated with a Doctor of Medicine in Queensland, and worked as a junior doctor at the Gold Coast Hospital. He has since worked at the Northern Hospital prior to joining the team at Mediq Wallan Medical Clinic. Dr Raslan is now undergoing training as a GP registrar and enjoys all areas of general practice with a special interest in paediatrics, dermatology and chronic diseases. His hobbies include fishing, boating and social sports.

Mozzie season!
Warm and wet weather can mean more mosquito biting and breeding, including the ones that can carry diseases that make you sick.
Your only protection against mosquitoes and the diseases they can carry is to avoid mozzie bites.
✅Mozzies can bite through tight clothing. Cover up - wear long, loose-fitting clothing.
✅Use mosquito repellents containing Picaridin or DEET on all exposed skin.
✅Limit outdoor activity if lots of mosquitoes are about.
✅Remove stagnant water where mosquitoes can breed around your home or campsite.
✅On holidays make sure your accommodation is fitted with mosquito netting or screens.
✅Use ’knockdown’ fly spray, mosquito coils or plug-in repellent where you gather to sit or eat outdoors.
✅Don’t forget the kids – always check the insect repellent label. On babies, you might need to spray or rub repellent on their clothes instead of their skin. Avoid applying repellent to the hands of babies or young children.

We love getting outdoors while the weather is warm. The problem is, so do mosquitoes. They’re not just annoying - some mozzies can transmit serious diseases.
