Let’s talk myopia and how to manage it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Firstly, myopia is serious stuff!! It’s what many people call being short sighted and basically is means you can’t see clearly in the distance and have to wear glasses to correct this.
You can’t reverse it and undo the progression once it has happened. However there are things we can do to slow the progression.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When we see your child for their eye check we determine if myopia is something we need to manage and then formulate a treatment plan. If your child has early stages of myopia and they also have other indicators that progression may be likely such as a family history we like to see them more regularly so that we can monitor any increases in their prescription.

Treatment options include things such as atropine eye drops, ortho k (hard contact lenses worn overnight), miyosmart lenses, and also vision therapy.
