Season 2022 is just around the corner! ๐Ÿ˜

Hopefully you are well into your preseason training by now - not just for match fitness, but especially to avoid those nasty overload injuries!

It's also important to get on top of those little niggles early, whilst they are only little niggles. They will only get harder to manage during the season.

Tight muscles? What should you use at home?

Massage gun or foam roller? What's your preference? ๐Ÿค”

Both are great and effective tools! Most muscle groups cope really well with either modality. However, if you're pulling up a bit too sore afterwards, you may need to have a discussion with your practitioner to make sure you're using them correctly.

Don't give up on it! Ask us if you need ๐Ÿ˜Š

So far, there has been limited advice regarding a return to exercise after recovering from COVID-19 - particularly for those suffering from prolonged symptoms.

A recent article from the British Medical Journal has recommended a staged return exercise that can commence as soon as patients have been asymptomatic for 7 days.

Phase 1 begins with very gentle mobility for a week, starting predominantly with gentle walking that can increase by 5 minute intervals if tolerated well. Progression to moderate intensity exercise can occur once able to walk for 30 mins comfortably.

The take-home message: don't try to return to ๐Ÿ’ฏ straight away!

This is fairly a common question, especially in the of an injury or health condition.

However, whilst each exercise modality has its own benefits, don't underestimate the value of your own ENJOYMENT when it comes to exercise. It becomes a lot easier to adhere to exercise programs and be consistent when they seem like less of a chore.

Plus, the great thing is, we can utilise one or more of these options to tailor a program that's right for you!

FROM THE ARCHIVES ๐ŸŽพ

With the tennis getting underway shortly, check out this footage from 2016!

Don't mind the technique, but here Adrian demonstrates the use of the "Kinetic Chain" to decrease the load on his problematic shoulder.

Two minor changes from his previous serving action included:
- Starting more side on to generate more torque from the trunk
- Increasing the amount of knee bend to generate more power from the legs

The takeaway: these little tweaks can be used to reduce the incidence of injury and boost performance!
