👁️✨ Did you know there are different types of eye turns in children — and each one can mean something different?

➡️ Esotropia: the eyes turn inwards (often linked to focusing or needing glasses)
⬅️ Exotropia: the eyes drift outwards (often shows when tired or daydreaming)
⬆️⬇️ Less common turns can move up or down — sometimes related to eye muscle imbalances.

Eye turns aren’t just cosmetic — they can affect how a child’s brain learns to see and use both eyes together.
Early checks make a big difference 👶💡

Sometimes it’s not a turn at all
↳ Skin folds can make it look like one eye is turning, this is called pseudostrabismus.
How to check at home
↳ Use the Hirschberg test: take a flash photo and check the light reflection in both eyes.
✅ Light centered in both? Likely normal.
🚩 Light off-centre in one? Could be a true turn (strabismus).
When in doubt, check it out
↳ Early diagnosis makes treatment simpler and more effective.

Once every few years isn’t enough
↳ Kids’ eyes can change faster than you think.
Start early, stay consistent
↳ First eye test at 1 year old, then every 12 months after that.
No symptoms doesn’t mean no problem
↳ Many vision issues develop quietly, kids think blurry is “normal.”
Yearly checks = early detection 💛
↳ Catching problems early means easier fixes and better outcomes.

Here’s what parents need to know about screen time and your child’s eyes 👇
4+ hours a day on screens?
↳ That’s the average, and it’s linked to rising myopia (short-sightedness).
But it’s not just about less time
↳ It’s how they use screens that matters.
Try this:
👁️ 20-20-20 rule, every 20 mins, look 20 feet away for 20 seconds
🪑 Keep posture and lighting in check
🌤️ Get 90+ minutes of outdoor daylight every day
Healthy habits = healthy vision 💛
↳ Their eyes are still growing - let’s protect them.

Here’s what parents need to know about patching therapy for a lazy eye 👇
Covering the “good” eye can help
↳ Patching forces the brain to use the weaker eye, building strength over time.
Consistency is key
↳ Daily wear, even short blocks makes a big difference.
Start early for best results
↳ The sooner you begin, the more plastic the brain is to change.
Boost therapy with exercises
↳ Simple eye games can accelerate progress.
Don’t wait on lazy eye treatment 💪
↳ Early action = better vision outcomes.

Here’s what parents need to know about kids who might need glasses 👇
They won’t always say, “I can’t see.”
↳ Instead, they’ll squint or sit way too close to the screen.
Headaches after homework?
↳ That could be a sign their eyes are working overtime to focus.
Struggling with reading?
↳ Vision problems can make books feel frustrating, especially early on.The issue isn’t always obvious
↳ Many kids just adapt, avoid, or stay quiet about it.
One simple check can change everything
↳ A 30-40 minute eye test could make school, reading, and confidence so much better.
Catch it early, help them thrive 💛
↳ We recommend a full eye test every year.

Here’s what parents need to know about when to book your child’s first eye test 👇

Don’t wait for a problem
↳ Kids often can’t tell if their vision is blurry, it feels normal to them.

Start early, see clearly
↳ We recommend testing between ages 3-4, even if there are no complaints.

Why it matters
↳ One strong eye can hide the weakness of the other, but not for long.

Vision shapes learning & confidence
↳ Early signs like lazy eyes or focusing issues can be caught before they affect development.

Time is everything
↳ Vision develops until age 9, after that, it’s much harder to reverse issues.

This is your window.
↳ Book the check. Protect their future. 💛

👀 “Why is my child blinking all the time?”
It’s one of the most common questions I get from parents — and the answer isn’t always simple.

📱 Too much screen time can dry out their eyes.

🌸 Spring allergies can make tears sticky and irritating.

👓 And sometimes, they’re blinking to try and see more clearly — which could mean they need glasses.

If you’ve noticed your child blinking more than usual, especially when reading or on screens, it’s worth getting their eyes checked.

💡 Sometimes it’s just a harmless habit… but sometimes it’s a sign.
