Did you know humans cannot regrow the hair cells in their ears that are responsible for helping us hear?

A recent study into Zebrafish is looking at how this might be able to be changed in the future. If hair cells could be regrown in the future, many forms of deafness might be able to be cured. While this is a long way off, all of this research may one day lead to a breakthrough. To read more about this research, check out this article.

Myth: Cotton Tips are Safe for Ear Wax Removal

Cotton tips are not safe for ear wax removal. Not only can they push wax further down the ear canal and cause it to become impacted and harder to get out, cotton tips can cause injury to your ear canal and ear drum leading to infection and even permanent hearing loss. At Knox Audiology, we offer safe and effective wax removal methods.

If you think you have a build up of wax in your ear, it is best to let the experts remove it for you. 📞 Call 03 9800 5697 to book an appointment, or visit us online:

Research into hearing loss is continually developing. This includes trials involving the use of cell therapies to treat sensorineural hearing loss. While a cure for hearing loss may not occur for many years, every bit of research is another step toward future developments.

Check out this great article about a recent study that has taken place.

Feeling like people are speaking less clearly is an early sign of hearing loss.

Often it is easy to dismiss this early sign of hearing loss as other people simply not talking clearly - but if it seems everyone is mumbling, then it might be that your hearing is deteriorating. The only way to know for sure is to have a hearing test. If you do have the early stages of a hearing loss, our university trained audiologists at Knox Audiology can provide you with guidance as to what your options are depending on your degree of hearing loss and personal circumstances.

If you are noticing other people are more difficult to understand, it might be time to have your hearing checked.
