While putting this collage together, I realised that I've always seeked some form of nature therapy when going on holidays. Also known as Ecotherapy, our connection to the natural world has numerous benefits. It doesn't matter where you go and it doesn't need to be a 'green space' ... it can be near the water, the desert, country side, the snow or your local walking track.
Some of the many benefits include:
Reduced stress: Being surrounded by fresh air and natural beauty can have a calming effect on the mind and body, helping you to relax.
Being in nature can boost mood, enhance self-esteem, and decrease symptoms of mental health disorders.
Many ecotherapy activities involve physical movement, such as hiking or outdoor sports. Regular activity helps in so many areas, including improved heart health, increased strength and reduced risk of chronic diseases.
Nature's peaceful and stimulating environment can help clear the mind, improve focus, and promote creative thinking.
Natural environments can strengthen the immune system. Fresh air, sunlight, plants and trees contribute to a healthier immune system, reducing the risk of illness.
If you engage in group activities outdoors, it provides opportunities for social interaction and connection - this can foster a sense of belonging and social support.
