💜Held on Wednesday 22 October 2025, from 9:30am–2pm at 26 Warabrook Blvd, Warabrook, this free event for our customers and staff is all about celebrating with a jam-packed day full of fun, including:

Happy 70th Birthday, Shane! 🎂 One of our beautiful customers recently celebrated her birthday in style, attending Waltzing Matilda’s on the big day (24th September) and continuing the celebrations with a birthday bash at Mayfield bowling club on the Sunday.

Shane's loving family, housemates and many friends and disability support workers she has met over the years joined her on the dance floor as Shane sang and danced along to the tunes of the Blue Water Cowboys. All reported a day full of laughter, music, and memories to cherish! 🎶✨💕

We're excited to share that ConnectAbility's Community Living Executive Lead Dr Karla Seaman has been named as a finalist in the 2025 Australian Disability Service Awards for the Best Sector Impact award. 🎉

Karla has been recognised for her work in the sector, which bridges evidence and practice, helping ensure policy reforms truly improve the lives of people with disability. With her expertise as a researcher and her dedication to community, Karla has made a lasting impact across teams, services and the broader sector.

We are incredibly proud of Karla's achievement and equally proud of the strong, trusted teams who staff and manage 21 community living homes for 82 people here at ConnectAbility. Karla credits these amazing teams as part of this recognition – and we couldn’t agree more! At ConnectAbility, we believe every person deserves to live a life of purpose, choice and dignity. It is our vision to empower people to achieve their goals, dreams and aspirations.

💛After 76 years of combined experience supporting people across the Hunter and Newcastle, Finding Yellow and ConnectAbility Australia have come together. This merger means:
✅ Continuity of services for all customers, with minimal disruption
✅ A seamless transition for our valued staff
✅ Stronger, sustainable support for the future

Both boards agreed this is the best path forward to make sure our services remain strong and our community continues to be supported for many years to come.

One example of how our amazing Scheduling Team goes above and beyond came up recently when one of our customers’ regular workers went on leave.

ConnectAbility Scheduling worked closely with the customer, their family and new staff to make sure everything felt consistent. The family were so grateful they sent this beautiful card - and we thought we'd highlight our thanks as well!👏

ConnectAbility’s Baby Development Group, led by experienced paediatric physiotherapists, are 5-week programs giving parents practical strategies, expert guidance and hands-on support.
What’s included:
✔️ Screening of early motor skills and head shape
✔️ Coaching on tummy time, positioning & play
✔️ Guidance for rolling, sitting, reaching and early skills
✔️ Peer support to reduce postnatal isolation

🎶 Meet Paul Corkett – ConnectAbility Community Support Worker

For nearly 11 years, Paul has been making a difference in the lives of ConnectAbility disability customers. With a background in music - from playing alongside legendary Australian bands like Cold Chisel and INXS to running weekly music sessions at our Warabrook Hub - Paul knows the unique power music has in disability support.

What makes it so special?
💜 Every customer gets to explore their own taste in music.
💜 Choosing their own songs helps our customers express themselves.
💜 Music creates moments of joy, calm and connection that words sometimes can’t.

Paul says: “It’s nice to be able to encourage customers to explore and express their individuality.”
