Peace it Together

Peace it Together Sharing the ancient practices of yoga to help Peace it Together. I consider it a privilege to be able to share life lessons from my own personal journey.

This page was created to enable the sharing of life experiences and to pass on valuable lessons that life has taught us to help peace it all together. My desire is simply to share what I have learned and maybe provide some helpful tools and resources for others. Perhaps along the way someone may feel inspired, become more aware, feel a particular resonance or just simply enjoy the posts. I invite you to share with me on this page, your own life lessons and pearls of wisdom that have helped you peace it together.

Each yoga class is a little sanctuary — a time to unwind, breathe, and come home to yourself.

Amidst the noise and pace of life, yoga reminds us to slow down and listen.

Join us this week and nourish your body, calm your mind, and lift your spirit.

Connecting with the Five Great Elements

In yoga, we are beautifully reminded that we are made of the same elements as the Earth herself — space, air, fire, water, and earth. When these elements are in balance, we feel grounded, clear, and aligned with the natural rhythm of life.

Here’s how we can connect with them — both on and off the mat:

🌸 Earth (Prithvi) – Feel the support beneath you in each pose. Spend time barefoot in nature, grounding your energy.
💧 Water (Apas) – Flow through movement with grace. Drink mindfully, honour your emotions, and let things move through you.
🔥 Fire (Agni) – Stoke your inner strength through breath and action. Invite passion, courage, and transformation.
🌬️ Air (Vayu) – Notice the rise and fall of each breath. Allow lightness, openness, and freedom into your heart space.
🌌 Space (Akasha) – Embrace stillness. Listen to the silence between breaths and moments—it’s where awareness expands.

Our yoga practice becomes a sacred dance with the elements — one that reconnects us to the essence of who we are and the world around us.

How do you like to honour the elements in your daily life?

The Five Great Elements – Panchamahabhutas

In yoga and Ayurveda, all of life is formed from the five great elements—Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Space. Known as the Panchamahabhutas, they are the building blocks of the universe, and they live within us too.

🌏 Earth (Prithvi) – stability, grounding, foundation – linked to the Root Chakra.
💧 Water (Apas) – flow, adaptability, creativity – linked to the Sacral Chakra.
🔥 Fire (Agni) – transformation, vitality, willpower – linked to the Solar Plexus Chakra.
🌬️ Air (Vayu) – movement, breath, freedom – linked to the Heart Chakra.
✨ Space (Akasha) – openness, stillness, expansion – linked to the Throat Chakra.

When these elements are in harmony, we feel balanced, vibrant, and deeply connected to ourselves and the world around us. Through our practice—movement, breath, meditation, and awareness—we can bring these elements into alignment.

This week, let’s explore the Panchamahabhutas on the mat and in daily life, reconnecting with nature’s wisdom and remembering that we are not separate from the universe, but a living expression of it.

✨ Which of the five elements do you feel most connected to right now?

Join us this week in class as we honour the Space element through our practice, inviting clarity, stillness, and the freedom to expand beyond limitation.

In yoga, the Space element (Akasha) represents openness, stillness, and infinite possibility. It is the vastness that holds all things, reminding us of the quiet within and the spaciousness around us.

The Space element is connected to the Vishuddha (Throat) Chakra, located at the throat. This chakra governs truth, expression, and clear communication. When balanced, we feel open, authentic, and able to express ourselves with ease. When unbalanced, we may feel blocked, unheard, or disconnected from our inner voice.

✨ Where in your life do you feel called to create more space?

Breath vs. Air in Yoga

In yoga, we often talk about breath and air — but they’re not quite the same thing.

Air is the physical element around us, what we inhale and exhale. It’s the oxygen and prana (life force) present in the atmosphere.

Breath is how we interact with that air — the rhythm, depth, and awareness of our inhalations and exhalations. Breath is what transforms simple air into a practice of mindfulness, presence, and energy flow.

Through pranayama (yogic breathing), we learn that air sustains us — but conscious breath elevates us.

Next time you come to your mat, notice the difference:
- The air moving in and out.
- The breath guiding your body, mind, and spirit.

Peace it Together

Hello my name is Angelique Pratten and I’d love to share with you my passion.

My passion is yoga.

Peace it Together was born from my deep desire to share the many benefits of the ancient practices of yoga and to teach others how to apply these techniques in a practical way to successfully navigate our busy, modern world.

The science of yoga provides a number of techniques to bring us back to centre, to find our place of peace and gain a sense of equanimity. These practices include yoga asana (physical postures), meditation (dhyana), breath work (pranayama) and Kirtan (devotional chanting).
