Yesterday Fairview was visited by a group of students from Tafe Gippsland who are undertaking their Health Services Assistance certificate.

Fairview residents and students played games, painted nails, word puzzles and spent time getting to know one another. One group embraced the sunshine and went for a walk outside together.

Thank you to the students and their teachers for visiting. We hope you enjoyed your time at our home! 🏡

Here are the results of another amazing Word Games session in the Morton Lounge this morning. It is always fantastic to have so many clever and creative contributions from participating residents. Thank you to Sheena for choosing the letter W for Scattergories, and Shirley L for choosing “Hypothetical” for word-in-a-word.

Last week the Cooking Club were busy creating a silverbeet pie, drawing from skills and passions that are significant to their identity. Using silver beet from the Fairview veggie patch (lovingly grown and cared for by the Garden Group), the keen cookers chopped up onion and added in cheeses and other ingredients. When baked inside a flakey puff pastry, it was a delicious meal enjoyed by many, having been created independently by Fairview residents, in a supported environment.

Well done on another outstanding dish! 👩‍🍳

Recently Annie attended an outing to Warragul to visit some op shops. Annie spotted this lovely jacket for the bargain price of $1 and is sporting it today, in lovely fashion. It suits you, Annie! ❤

Residents living at Fairview have an active role in choosing what goes on in their home. This extends to residents suggesting movies for our Wednesday evening and Saturday sessions. Today, the movie of choice was The Notebook 🩷

Today we hosted the annual Mid Year Celebration in the Morton Lounge. Residents, visitors and staff dressed in their finest western wear for the Barn Dance! Entertained by Carol Partridge and with a special guest appearance from Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers, members of the Fairview family danced and laughed the afternoon through. Thanks everyone who contributed to what was a highly enjoyable celebration! Yee haw! 🤠🌵

Today we celebrated World Chocolate Day... and golly was it sweet! Residents of Fairview enjoyed a viewing of W***y Wonka and The Chocolate Factory whilst enjoying chocolate mousse, Tim Tams, and strawberries and marshmallows dipped in a moreish chocolate fountain. Yummo! 🍫

The intergenerational connections between Fairview Residents and St Paul's Primary students have been strengthened and nourished of late. Recently, the groups took part in a portrait drawing session in which a Grade 6 student would draw a senior at Fairview, and vice versa. The results are absolutely lovely. We're looking forward to seeing them again this afternoon for a game of indoor bowls!
