West Gippsland Arts Centre is coordinating the following: Do you know of anyone who has an interest in learning how to design and produce an event for young people?

Are they aged 12 to 25 and live in Baw Baw Shire?

The West Gippsland Arts Centre Young Producers Program is a unique opportunity for young people to gain hands-on experience in event design, planning, and production, as well as marketing and creative development.

From March to November 2026, five (5) Young Producers will be selected and paid up to $1000 each to participate in the program. Over six (6) in-person and/or online meetings, they will collaborate with mentors and fellow participants to design, plan, and produce the 2026 Expressions Festival, which will be held at West Gippsland Arts Centre in October.

If you’re excited to be part of this program fill in the application form and tell us about yourself and why you’d love to be a Young Producer!

Understanding Neurodivergence - A four‑session parent workshop by Candid Psychology, facilitated by Madison Moore.

Raising a neurodivergent child can be full of joy, questions, and big emotions. This workshop offers a supportive space to understand your child’s brain and behaviour through a compassionate, neuro‑affirming lens — so you can feel clearer, more confident, and more connected.

Across four gentle, practical sessions, you’ll explore how your child thinks, feels, learns, and communicates, and walk away with strategies you can use at home, school, and in daily life. Each enrolment includes a beautifully designed resource pack to support your learning.

Dates: Mondays
- April 20; Brain Development
- April 27; Neurotypes
- May 04; Stress Response
- May 11; Strengths, Regulation, and Self-Care
Time: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Cost: $400 for all four sessions (includes resource pack)

After Huge success last year this program is kicking off again!! March 05th and for 5 consecutive Thursdays. Its a ripper where kids learn allot but also have alot of fun. Get in touch if you have someone that needs registering quick!!

CTRL:ALT:CONNECT is a small group social program designed for young people who benefit from structured connection, gentle skill building, and a supportive environment. We use guided group gameplay as the platform for learning — things like teamwork, communication, flexible thinking, problem solving, and confidence in social interactions.
The sessions are facilitated by experienced staff who take a trauma informed, developmentally aware approach. The focus is always on creating a space where young people feel safe, included, and able to participate at their own pace. It’s particularly well suited to neurodiverse young people or those who find social situations tricky but still want connection and fun with peers.
Each week includes:

• Cooperative gameplay and shared problem solving
• Opportunities to practice communication and social skills in a natural, low pressure way
• Support with emotional regulation, turn taking, and group participation
• A predictable structure so participants know what to expect
• Embedded online safety learning, including how to recognise safe vs unsafe interactions, manage digital boundaries, and navigate online spaces with confidence

We integrate online safety skills in a practical, strengths based way — not fear based, but empowering. Young people learn how to stay safe, make good choices, and understand the social dynamics of digital environments, which often mirror the challenges they face offline. Families often tell us they see improvements in confidence, social comfort, and the ability to connect with others outside the program as well.

Roger Federer has always been an idol of mine, not just because of how good he was, but because of how he played the game mentally.

In this clip he talks about how tennis isn’t about winning every point. Even the best players lose a lot of them. What matters is being able to put the point behind you and focus on the next one.

That idea comes up all the time in counselling, especially with young people. It’s so easy to get stuck replaying mistakes:
• something you said
• something that didn’t go to plan
• a moment you wish you could redo

But one rough moment doesn’t define you. And it doesn’t have to ruin the rest of your day.

Learning to pause, reset, and move on is a real skill. Not ignoring what happened — just not dragging it into the next moment.

You don’t need to be perfect.
You just need to give yourself permission to start the next point.
