Good to see a clip which shows mama in an active/upright position for birth instead of lying on her back.

This is beautiful. This is what maternity care should look like, for all women...even those who need specialist care

One of the many special people we have been so grateful for over these past few months, our wonderful midwife Libby. Not only is she incredible at what she does, this morning she made me macaroni and cheese because she heard me mention a wee craving yesterday. Thank you so much for everything Libby!

Can I ask all my Australian friends to consider doing this really short survey...it's so important we use our voices right now to help form a national maternity services plan which is meaningful to all women.
You might be done having babies...but your children may one day and your grandchildren.

The Maternity Consumer Network has put together a survey which they will comply and send through to the Department of Health. They polled consumers recently: 99% of the 3700 respondents of our poll think continuity of midwifery carer should underpin our national plan. Let's make this happen.

Around 25-34% of women describe their birth as traumatic. Should they just be grateful that the baby is healthy? Or are we harming mothers emotional health?

Nothing makes my blood boil more than hearing about a woman being given a procedure without her informed consent. Midwives and doctors don't have the right to decide for women if a stretch and sweep will 'help' things along.

There is WAY too much pressure on women to think they are overdue when they aren't. We need to advocate for maternity care which is patient and supportive, that doesn't hurry and pressure.
