Internal Family Systems (IFS) is the non-pathologising, powerfully transformative, evidence-based model of experiential psychotherapy which has taken the therapy world by storm in the past decade.

In Embodied Wellbeing Psychology we utilise IFS to explore various parts of us that may contribute to our distress (eg. parts that carry guilt, shame, despair, anxiety, self-judgment, anger etc) and allow them to be witnessed, understood, cared for and unburdened.

IFS can be combined with somatic approaches and psychodrama to deepen the process of self-inquiry and our relationship with the parts.

Here is the the short video by Dr Richard Schwartz, IFS founder:

Leading trauma researcher, Bessel van der Kolk (Author of 'Body Keeps the Score'), questioned the efficacy of talk therapy in the treatment of trauma, given that the thinking brain is offline during traumatic events. Bessel highlights the use of experiential, embodied and creative approaches to treatment such as drama and theatre.

At Embodied Wellbeing Psychology, Dr Kamil offers psychodrama as one of his therapeutic tools in working with his clients.
