King Street Dental and Medical was honoured to welcome Federal Minister for Health and Aged Care, Mark Butler, alongside Alison Byrnes, for a visit to our centre on Tuesday 24 February.
During the visit, we provided a full tour of the facility and discussed our transition to a Medicare bulk-billed medical practice, and the meaningful impact this has already had on improving access to care for our community.
We also shared updates on the opening of our new on-site pharmacy and the benefits of having medical, dental, pharmacy, allied health, skin clinic and pathology services integrated under one roof. This model is designed to make healthcare simpler, more coordinated, and more convenient for patients and families.
A highlight of the discussion was the reduction in PBS patient co-payment to $25 (previously $31.60), which is helping ease the financial burden of essential prescriptions.
The visit was a valuable opportunity to showcase how community-focused healthcare models can improve accessibility, affordability, and continuity of care. Most importantly, the feedback from patients since these changes has been overwhelmingly positive.
We thank Minister Butler and Alison Byrnes for their time and interest in the work being done at King Street Dental and Medical.
