JOIN SENIOR YOGA TEACHER AMELIA DISSPAIN AND YOGA THERAPIST AND PHYSIOTHERAPIST LIZ BENNETT ON A 7 NIGHT RETREAT IN NORTHERN PORTUGAL

Be guided skilfully through twice daily yogic practices including steady, balanced asana – energy gathering pranayama, mindful meditation and deep relaxation and learn about Ayurvedic lifestyle practices with two senior teachers.

We design our retreats to ignite a spark within participants that charges their very way of being into one that is more open, joyful and more connected to themselves, others and our beautiful natural world.

While you may choose a week of total escape at , the forest, flowers and sunshine give us the perfect reason to venture off and hike through the bordering national park. During our optional day trips, we will explore the beautiful Douro Valley, wander Guimaraes’ historic streets, taste high quality local food and wines and hike to a nearby local trout farm and restaurant for lunch. We love running these workshops so much that Amelia and I wanted to find one more Assisting and Adjusting Workshop weekend before the end of the year. This is it! Come stay in beautiful Bellingen for the weekend and develop and refine your yoga hands on assists with us. We provide lots of personalised teaching and supportive feedback, so you can work on the aspects of hands- on teaching that you find tricky or want more guidance with. I’m really excited to be joining the team on Saturday mornings at their new Newport studio, which is just downstairs from .
Pilates and yoga are a lifelong study & practice for me, woven into my life and my physiotherapy practice. My passion for teaching comes from the gratitude I have for my teachers and their craft. Yoga has helped me heal and find resilience through many injuries ( mostly from mountain biking!) through tough years of being a carer and business owner, through motherhood and through my 40’s. Yoga is transmitted through techniques - the asana and pranayama ( poses and breath work) as well as more subtle tools for the mind, which derive from the ancient philosophy and energetic secrets of yoga- this is what is transmitted from teacher to teacher. I can’t wait to share the beautiful tools of yoga with the Feels community in my Soothe and Unwind classes starting THIS SATURDAY AT 10:30AM!!🧘‍♀️ Hope to see some of you there ❤️

Jenny and Liz invite our community and friends to gather together to celebrate the full moon in the beautiful space of Warriewood Surf Club on Sunday September 14th 6:00 - 7:30pm.
You will be guided through gentle flowing yoga, meditation, yoga nidra, and deep relaxation.

Om Chandraya Namaha is the moon mantra.
It calls us back into perspective when life becomes confusing and helps us see things more clearly. It sharpens our intellect and calms our nervous system to restore balance & equanimity. Just as the moon appears to be in darkness throughout the month, our minds get clouded by the unfolding of our lives. But the moon is not in darkness. It’s simply our perspective. May the glow of this mantra lead you back to the truth that always lies within you.
The practice is suitable for everyone and all are welcome.

Over 20 years ago I moved to Sydney with one purpose, to learn the wisdom of yoga from physiotherapists Simon Borg Oliver and Bianca Machliss. Thanks to University of South Australia, I had been able to create my own “ Yoga” elective in the final year of my Bachelor of Physiotherapy, with Simon as my supervisor. Back in 1998, there were only 3 physios I could find in Australia who were yoga teachers. We were all way before our time.
At Yoga Synergy I met Amelia, who was also in the process of a 3 year apprentice style teacher training with Bianca and Simon.
We watched and assisted countless hours of classes, through which our eyes were opened to the connection between body and mind in new ways. We learned how to gently guide people beyond limiting habitual patterns, help them to re-discover ease in movement and breath, re-discover the stillness at their centre.
Every student still offers us more to learn about assisting and adjusting, which is why we need to always look and ask for feedback when we offer hands-on teaching in classes. Amelia and I share our combined 40 + years of yoga teaching in a 2 day course in Sydney this weekend. Integrating physiotherapy knowledge, subtle anatomy and anatomical understandings in a trauma and pain sensitive approach so teachers can build confidence in hands-on assists in group classes and beyond.

Happy Birthday to gorgeous woman who I first met at Newtown way back in the early 2000’s. Inside that dark hall, Amelia had this light that always shone across the room. When Nico gave me an opportunity to start our Bali yoga retreats at Jeda, I was so happy we could work on our venture together doing what we loved!
There’s no way I would have believed that over 20 years later we would be inspired to keep creating and learning and laughing together, that we would have developed our yoga teacher training, traveled the world teaching together and sustained our yoga businesses side by side in Sydney and Bellingen while raising our beautiful sons. I’m so proud of you Amelia, your gentle resilience, your willingness to risk and to grow, you are the most peaceful, clever and funny human and you have built a beautiful community and space at . You are a treasure and I love you infinitely 🌸

We have one room still available for our June 20 - 26th Balanced Practice Yoga Retreat Portugal 🇵🇹. Amelia and Liz have been holding retreats together for over a decade. Over this time, friends have joined us with partners, daughters, soul- mates and solo. We welcome all. Diversity creates many precious moments of learning and empathy across generations and cultures.
We have one space free in a twin room, sharing with another woman. If you’d like to join our Portugal retreats, and you’re travelling solo but would prefer the cheaper option of room- sharing, this is a rare opportunity. Let us know if you’d like to find out more.

Essentia (e sen' she 'a) the nature, spirit, essence of... Yoga Essentia offers Yoga classes on the Northern Beaches at Warriewood Surf Club. Liz Bennett is a physiotherapist and yoga therapist who teaches group classes and 1:1 individualised and therapeutic yoga sessions.

Minutes drive from Mona Vale, Collaroy, Narrabeen and Elanora Heights for beach-front yoga. Space to move and unlimited fresh ocean air. Yoga to have you feeling stronger and living your life with vitality. Our passionate, experienced teachers strive to accommodate the needs of each individual, from complete beginners to practiced students. We do not have a "one sequence for all" approach. Yoga is accessible and beneficial to all people when taught responsibly. We offer smaller group sizes and individual yoga therapy sessions, assess the needs of our students and modify postures to provide so you can consciously and safely build your skill in the lifelong practices of yoga.
