Be Centre Foundation HOPE. HEALING. CHANGE

https://linktr.ee/becentre

Be Centre Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting children, young people and families impacted by emotional, behavioural, and mental health difficulties. A child is reported abused or neglected in Australia every two minutes, and every day the most vulnerable children and their families depend on Be Centre’s services. Be Centre provides a safe, therapeutic, confidential and caring environment to help children make sense of situations and events, explore and express their feelings, restore trust and build self confidence. Be Centre also offers parent counselling and skills courses to ensure the children get the support they need at home. We work with children, families, organisations and government and are continually expanding our services to meet increasing demand. We are dedicated to early intervention, stopping cycles of harm and helping children heal from difficulties and trauma so they can create a brighter future.

Last week, Be Centre was lucky enough to be hosted by alongside some other industry partners, for a Work Integrated Learning (WIL) lunch.

This lunch gave the ICMS students the chance to be recognised for their hard work and dedication during their recent placements, as well as providing industry partners the chance to connect and celebrate the professional journeys of these students.

Be Centre’s very own, Maura Magee delivered a beautiful talk about the importance of staying creative and playful not just in childhood, but into adulthood, adding a special touch to the day.

This served as a meaningful reminder that keeping things fun helps us grow, no matter where we are in our careers.

Welcome to our playroom!

Join Alyce, one of our lovely Play Therapists, on a quick tour of one of our playrooms.

In these spaces, children have all they need to work through and make sense of the life challenges they are facing.

The toys in these rooms are carefully selected tools that the children use to share with their therapist what their world feels like to them. Through this shared journey, and through the connection that forms between the child and their therapist, change and healing happens.

These rooms are safe spaces in which children can feel seen and accepted and are a place where the child can simple BE

Last week, Be Centre was honoured to be hosted by to share an update on our groundbreaking Teleplay Therapy study, delivered in partnership with and in collaboration with

This world-first research will explore whether Teleplay Therapy is as effective as in-person Play Therapy—an important step toward increasing access to vital mental health services for children in rural and remote communities.

Thanks to generous funding from the Rotary Club of Sydney through the Joan Salter Award, the research team now has 8 children participating across NSW.

Presenting on behalf of the research team were Alyce Goss from Be Centre and Associate Professor Judi Parson from Deakin University. They will also present findings at the Rural and Remote Mental Health Conference in Tasmania this November.

We’re incredibly proud to be part of this pioneering work—bringing healing and hope to children who need it most, wherever they live.

A Play Therapist’s toolkit provides a selection of therapeutic play equipment for the children to work with.

More than just toys, these items are chosen for their ability to offer the children many different opportunities for self-expression and creativity – allowing them to explore and make sense of their world.

Some of these items may include; sand play, puppets, slime, costumes, arts and crafts, clay, musical instruments and so much more.

When a child enters the play room, they have complete autonomy over what they want to do and how they want to express themselves. Having access to a wide variety of these different options, means that there is something for every child, and there is no limitation for where the therapy can go, based on that child’s needs.
