Anxiety is feelings of intense, excessive and persistent worry and fear about everyday life. 1 in 7 people will experience an anxiety disorder over a 12 month period.

The experience of anxiety might feel like a rapid heart rate, shallow breathing, sweating or tremors, inability to make decisions, or feeling overwhelmed and tired.

Anxiety is the bodies typical response to a high stress event. It's normal to feel anxious in anticipation for something new, taking a test, moving to a new place or being in a race!

In some people however it can be consuming and debilitating. Anxiety can stop people from doing things they once enjoyed like socialising, taking care of themselves or even leaving their home.

Research shows that a poor diet is linked to the development of anxiety through nutrient deficiencies and altered good bacteria in our gut. Our genes and environment are also involved.
Diet and lifestyle changes can significantly help with anxiety treatment as I see with the clients I work with.

I work with a lot of women who have spent years restricting what they eat.
Giving yourself permission to eat what you feel like is really difficult (it often seems counterintuitive), but I've never met a single person who wants to live the rest of their lives on a diet.
I recommend to start slowly, and I teach my clients these very same principles.

I had chronic skin breakouts for years, but not during my teens. It started well into my 20s.
I was so upset by my skin and my self esteem really suffered.

As a Naturopath, I now work extensively with clients who have skin concerns. I can really relate to the frustration of skin problems as an adult.

I support my clients to optimise their gut health, hormone balance, stress management and reduce environmental toxins in order to tackle breakouts. These same changes helped me to improve my own skin.

Here are my top 15 tried and tested tips for troubled skin!

Skin care is a billion dollar industry. Over the counter blemish treatments, peels, scrubs and masks promise clear skin, but more often then not they don’t deliver, leaving sufferers frustrated and confused about what to do about their acne. Generally the next step is to visit the family physicia

Food for thought! Is your plant milk sustainable?

Please.. Do not ingest (eat/drink) essential oils without guidance, and do not give them to your children.
There is toxicity associated with essential oil ingestion, and just because you've been told it's "safe" because it's "natural", know that it is highly concentrated and can damaging for gut health.
In some supplements there are essential oils that are in a specific doses, these are recommended short term only and under the supervision of a professional.

The study, published today in the Medical Journal of Australia, retrospectively examined calls regarding essential oils to the NSW Poisons Information Centre and found essential oil exposure is frequent and increasing by more than 5 percent each year, with 63 percent of cases in children under 15 ye...

Children need exposure to foods they don't like (ie vegetables!!!!) up to 15 times before they'll eat it.
Normalise the food by eating the same meal with them. And don't give up, even when the broccoli gets chucked on the floor for the 10th time!

How can you get a fussy child to eat vegetables? It's a question that plagues many frustrated parents at countless mealtimes.

Can't stress this enough! Variety, colour, fibre are essential for a healthy microbiome. I always tell clients to increase their fibre intake and "eat the 🌈" of fruit, vegetables and legumes for happy gut Flora.
