Anxiety is feelings of intense, excessive and persistent worry and fear about everyday life. 1 in 7 people will experience an anxiety disorder over a 12 month period.
The experience of anxiety might feel like a rapid heart rate, shallow breathing, sweating or tremors, inability to make decisions, or feeling overwhelmed and tired.
Anxiety is the bodies typical response to a high stress event. It's normal to feel anxious in anticipation for something new, taking a test, moving to a new place or being in a race!
In some people however it can be consuming and debilitating. Anxiety can stop people from doing things they once enjoyed like socialising, taking care of themselves or even leaving their home.
Research shows that a poor diet is linked to the development of anxiety through nutrient deficiencies and altered good bacteria in our gut. Our genes and environment are also involved.
Diet and lifestyle changes can significantly help with anxiety treatment as I see with the clients I work with.
