This might sound harsh, but here’s the reality: many behavior plans are built on surface-level observations. They aim to fix what’s visible—without ever asking deeply enough why the behavior is happening, or what the body is experiencing underneath.

When plans prioritize compliance over inner validation…
When they reward masking and suppressing real needs…
When they push through distress with tokens and timers…

They’re laying the foundation for Autistic Burnout.

We can do better. With curiosity. With interoception. With care that seeks to understand the whole autistic person.

We love being part of the community of health and community support practitioners in the Maryknoll Centre so are so excited to be able to stay in the same building. Our new rooms are much more spacious than before and gives us the opportunity to create a space for older clients. Our signs are yet to arrive but come in through the entrance by the pharmacy and turn right, we are the first door on the left.

Possum House is now a provider of specialised free counselling to carers as part of a state wide scheme! Support is offered to those directly involved in the care of the person with a disability regardless of age. This can include parents, siblings, or grandparents and foster parents.
