Diabetes can lead to eye conditions such as diabetic retinopathy and diabetic macula oedema, which, if left undetected or untreated, can cause permanent eye damage and vision loss. ⚠️

With the weather slowly but surely warming up as we transition from spring to summer, tick off the 4 S’s every time you head out to protect both your eyes and skin.

✅ Sunnies 😎 – Choose sunglasses that block both UVA & UVB rays and meet the Australian and New Zealand standard for effective UV protection (category 3 and above). Bonus points for polarisation! 🙌

✅ Sun hat 👒 – Don't forget to pack a hat! Wide-brimmed is best for added eye protection.

✅ Shade 🌴 – Seek shade when possible, especially during peak UV hours.

✅ Sunscreen 🧴 – Use broad-spectrum SPF 30+ or higher, as recommended by Australian standards.
