It's Men's Health Week from June 13th-19th 2022. Men's Health Week aims to speak up for our men who are suffering in silence.

On average, five men take their lives each day. This is an alarming number and it is four times more than the rate of women.

Statistically, men suffer from more illness, more accidents and die earlier than females do. Accidents, cancer and heart disease all account for the majority of male deaths.

It's time to take a stand for our men.

Men's Health Week is aiming to turn this around and create positive environments for the men's and boy's lives.

June is Migraine Awareness Month. Did you know that one in seven people deal with frequent migraines?

Migraines affect almost 20% of Australians, most commonly for people in their 20s and 30s. For most people, this impacts on their work and social life.

Despite being recognised as one of the most disabling lifetime conditions, awareness and understanding is low. Migraine Awareness Month aims to raise awareness for those who are suffering in silence; know that you are not alone.

International Osteopathic Awareness Week Day 2!

Osteopathy - one human being helping another back to health.

I love how Osteopathy is different.
It addresses the root cause of pain, not just the bit that hurts.
Osteopathy incorporates the Mind, Body and Spirit,
Osteopaths use their hands to find out where the problems are.
Osteopaths use an intimate knowledge of anatomy to work out why there is pain.
Osteopaths can give a detailed diagnosis and deliver fast pain relief.
Osteopaths want to empower the patient.

Osteopathy enables people to help themselves to move and feel better.

For more information or to make an appointment call the clinic.

Lower back pain is often triggered by problems in the sacroiliac (SI) joint. This article explains how, as Osteopaths we see this a lot, we aim to find the causes of your pain and treating them getting you moving and feeling better.

Call the clinic to see if we can help you.

Sacroiliac joint dysfunction is often overlooked while diagnosing lower back pain disorders. This joint is located deep inside your pelvis and bears tremendous weight—making it vulnerable to chronic pain problems.

FEEL GOOD FEBRUARY IS HERE!

With the pandemic the past 2 years haven’t exactly been filled with “good news stories”, we have been bombarded with negative news stories, isolation, lockdowns and a lot of apprehension.

Feel Good Feb is here to bring a ray of brightness and light to the world- and it's done by YOU. One random act of kindness can bring a smile to someone's face. You can literally change their life for the better just by being kind. Then in turn, maybe they will do a kind deed for someone else. Let's counteract the negative by being proactively positive.

If you need a tune -up, have tense shoulders, headaches or neck pain give the clinic a call and book an appointment. Visit www.easeosteo.com.au

As the kids are getting ready to head back to school it’s worth remembering
carrying backpacks and sitting at desks all day can cause some stiffness in the back, neck and shoulders. An ill-fitting or oversized back pack may increase the risk of poor posture or possible injury.

Here are some top tips to make sure your child is backpack-aware.

Make sure the backpack is the right size – it should be no wider than the child’s chest and no higher than 3 cm above their shoulders – they should be able to look up to the ceiling without their head hitting the bag.

A moulded frame which conforms to your child’s back when adjusted correctly.

Two wide, adjustable padded shoulder straps – Wearing a bag with only one strap curves the spine unnaturally, putting stress on the whole body.
Separate compartments that allow packing ease.

Both shoulder straps should always be used to distribute the weight evenly on the child’s back. Waist straps also help.

The shoulder straps should be adjusted so that the bottom of the bag sits around the child’s waist – trace a line from their belly button around to their back, the bottom of the bag should sit around there.

Explain that wearing the backpack correctly will prevent back, shoulders, and neck pain, regularly check with them to see if the bag is comfortable, or if they are in any kind of pain.

When the kids get home, encourage them to take their shoes off and play outside, without technology for 30 minutes. 30 minutes of varied movement can unwind the body from the rigid positions they are expected to hold throughout the day.

Osteopaths can treat patients with back and neck pain, sports injuries, headaches, postural problems, sciatica symptoms, knee and heel pain call the clinic if your child needs an appointment.

If your child does complain of neck or shoulder pain, it is a good idea to take your child to an Osteopath for an assessment. The school bag may not be the only potential source of discomfort.

Covid Lockdown 7.0 Update.

We are OPEN for essential hands-on osteopathy treatment during the COVID-19 lockdown that begins today, however strict criteria applies.

Osteopathy is deemed an essential Allied health service as long as you genuinely require hands on treatment and meet DHHS definition of urgent clinical care.

The definition of urgent clinical care for Allied Health services is defined as:
Direct clinical care (and other clinical support activity necessary to support direct clinical care) that prevents a significant change/deterioration in functional independence necessitating escalation of care OR is required as an adjunct to other urgent medical/surgical interventions.

For example URGENT CLINICAL CARE-

• that avoids a potential hospital admission or emergency department presentation

• that avoids serious acute consequences or acute deterioration

• that presents/delays the need for further specialist medical or surgical intervention

• that prevents an increase in care needs that would necessitate additional carer supports or change in accommodation needs
that limits secondary complications post surgery

• where deferral would lead to long term adverse consequences (i.e.. delays to child development)

So if you feel that you DO NOT meet this criteria, please call the clinic 0439655639 to reschedule your appointment.

Please always wear your mask when visiting the clinic and check in with our QR code.

If you are experiencing any cold and flu symptoms including fever and chills, sore throat, shortness of breath, coughing or runny nose, please call the clinic to reschedule your appointment.

If you are waiting on your covid-19 test results, have been in close contact with someone suspected of having covid-19 or have visited a public exposure site, please call to reschedule your appointment.

Thank-you.

These lockdowns will have a big impact on many of us.

It’s okay to not be okay. If things are getting a bit much for you please reach out and have a chat with a mate, a loved one or call one of the support services available.

There’s a lot of hurt, anxiety and uncertainty in our community today - from business owners who have to close their doors again, through to school students who are again learning from home and everyone in between.

Please take care.

Reopening tomorrow!

One in five Australians will experience persistent pain at some point in their lives.

Pain is our in-built alarm system, warning us that something might be wrong. Pain is a perfectly normal response, even if it is inconvenient and disruptive. A lot of the time, pain does not indicate severe damage, and often injuries will heal completely.

Did you know that worrying and being fearful of your pain can actually make it worse? Find an osteopath near you to help you understand why you have pain, and manage it safely.
