THE FACES BEHIND THE BRAND

When you see over 41,500 followers on a page you would normally see that page belongs to media corporation not a family.

If you see the amount of content Fitzmedia distributes every week, ranging from news and public affairs, to local sport coverage and studio programs you would think that it does it with unlimited resources.

Again, you would think a company that does all that isn’t a family run organisation would you ?

Well it is, and we are damn proud of what we can deliver to you - our audience every week.

The thing is - it’s tough, especially because we want to be free for our community to access - so we won’t be able to rely on subscriptions every month to pay our way.

Accessing local news should be free, whether it’s written or watched - and that is what we, and this family are trying to make a reality for our community.

That is why we need our community’s support!

Whether it’s local businesses spending a small amount with us every month as advertisers, paying us to produce a television commercial or corporate video or our viewers choosing to make a donation to us every month via our press patron account.

People may think - “relying on donations from the community means something is wrong with your business model” - in fact we have been accused of that multiple times.

The answer is - our business model relies on advertising - but it is taking a while for it to catch on - so the other part to our business model is donations.

We don’t want to force people to pay for our content - that goes against our grain. But if people choose to donate a portion of money to us, that is something we welcome.

Big businesses rely on subscriptions for people to access their content - that’s their model.

Our model is to be a grass roots media organisation that is free forever! And we are really trying to push that.

So if you value us, and value the work and sacrifice the family in this picture has made for the South West Community- make a monthly contribution, or choose us for your next paid project - because we put your investment into our business back into supporting our community by providing a free platform.

Donate or “voluntarily subscribe “ here.

From the family archives — Suzi Walter and her trusty sidekick Sid at Merri River Rose Nursery, circa 1994. 🌹

From 1992 to 2012, Suzi and Andy Walter ran the Merri River Rose Farm, growing over 300 different rose varieties and supplying retail businesses across Victoria, South Australia, and Tasmania — before later selling direct to the public.

Have you got any of these locally grown beauties blooming in your garden? 🌸✨

Got any historic gems hiding in the family photo album?
