SHIRE SERVICE IMPACTED BY FIRE DANGER TOMORROW
SOURCE: Corangamite Shire Council
Friday 9 January is a day of Catastrophic Fire Danger for south-west Victoria, including Corangamite Shire.
Catastrophic Fire Danger days are the most dangerous conditions for a fire. Fire will be uncontrollable, unpredictable and fast moving.
If a fire starts and takes hold, lives are
likely to be lost. Homes cannot withstand fires in these conditions. People’s lives may depend on the decisions they make, even before there is a fire. Residents and visitors should activate their bushfire plans now and stay away from areas of high bushfire risk.
Leaving early is always the safest option.
Tomorrow is also a day of Total Fire Ban. No fire can be lit in the open air or allowed to remain alight.
Corangamite Shire Council services and facilities will be impacted by the declaration of Catastrophic Fire Danger.
The following Council facilities will be closed:
• Port Campbell Visitor Information Centre
• Timboon and Derrinallum Transfer Stations
• Naroghid Transfer Station – closed to the public, commercial customers only
• Family daycare and childcare services
