Well done to Lea-Ann Murty with ticking off an awesome Hyrox training and completion.

I was lucky enough to work with Lea-Ann over a number of weeks to make sure her body was in top condition!

When working towards a big goal it’s important to have a good team of people around you and to look at your training holistically. Lea-Ann priorited her training program, nutrition, recovery and invested in bodywork over many weeks to make sure she was able to achieve her best.

I absolutely loved being a part of Lea-Anns journey and helping support her to achieve success!

Okay let’s talk about Recovery…
Recovery is one of the most important things you can do to not only benefit your training but also support your wellbeing.
What I mean by “wellbeing” is your day to day energy, comfort, immune function and vitality. Our training is such a small part of our day/week what you do the rest of the time will affect your body significantly!

Ask yourself these question ⬇️
-Do you have aches and pains for no apparent reason?
-Is your job physically taxing on your body?
-Are you sitting down for most of the day?
-Are you carrying children around?
-Do you have trouble sleeping?
-Are you in the car a lot?

All of these things are very important when we look at your overall wellbeing and what your body needs. If you’re sitting down or in the car a lot that means your body will have tightness in particular muscle. AND if this muscle are not stretched, moved or treat regularly will remain tight and cause problems.

The same goes if you have young children that you carrying around and put in and out of car seats. This can be very physically demanding on the body and cause misalignment.

My point is “recovery” is not just for people in the gym or playing sports. You need to look at your lifestyle and determine what might be physical demanding on your body.

*When you book in for a treatment with me we discuss these things in detail, we make a plan and work towards you feeling your absolute best!

Are you doing enough recovery?

I have noticed a bit of a trend in clinic these last few weeks, so I wanted to shine a light on it and help educate the importance of recovery.

Over these last few weeks I have seen multiple clients in the clinic that have been doing great things with their training, BUT haven’t been pulling up well.

A big thing we forget is when we increase our training, we MUST increase our volume of recovery.

This is particularly important when starting a new style of training or beginning a fitness program. This is when you are at a higher risk of injury.

Here are some examples of recovery you can do weekly/monthly to help aid training:
-Foam rolling/stretching
-Spa/Bath
-Recovery session at the Beach
-Yoga at home/class
-Massage Gun or Self Massage
-Sauna
-Remedial Massage
-Hot Mineral Springs
-Take Magnesium or use a Magnesium Spray/Cream

Recovery is such a big part of increasing your performance, getting the results you desire and feeling your best. Make sure to prioritise it.

Here’s a little something you might not know about me…

I use to lecture full time at a college in Melbourne where I helped educate and prepare many students to embark on their new career path as a massage therapist.

I did this for just over two years while also working as a Remedial Therapist in a Goodlife gym. To say I was busy was an understatement BUT I loved every second of it and it definitely opened my eyes to a Holistic approach of treating and how many different modalities can come together to heal.

My “style” of treating is a little different to most Remedial Massages. I like to treat the whole person and look at the big picture. I spend more time than most doing soft tissue and making sure my client is relaxed before getting into the deeper layers of muscles . I also believe in a treatment plan and continuous care. I will always give my honest opinion on what I think your body needs.

I’ve found my clients have gained a lot of success and are feeling the best they have in a long time!

Don’t ignore the signals!
Our bodies will always try to tell us would we need. But a lot of the time we don’t listen 👂 we push through, we have that extra coffee, miss our rest day or ignore that old injury flare up. So eventually our body will make us listen! Sickness will hit, you will get injured, your mental health will suffer or you will get all 3.

Our body sends us signals all the time and tells us what it needs… make sure to listen. 👂

I will make sure your body is getting what it needs, your treatment plan is followed and I will make sure you are on track to feeling your absolute best!
